SYNOPSIS

Lena goes to a job interview with Adam Chandler and meets Michael; in an argument with her mother, Erica, Bianca states that Lena is the woman she loves (Lena gets to be here this one, this time); Lena gets a job with Greenlee Investments

RE-CAPS:

From The Official Site at ABC.com:
http://abc.go.com/daytime/allmychildren/episodes/2003-04/20030606.html

Myrtle believes Erica's desire to keep Lena away from Bianca is based on Erica's past failed relationships. Bianca is furious when she learns Erica was the one who alerted the INS to Lena's change in her work status. Bianca confronts Erica, who maintains she was just trying to spare Bianca from more heartache. Greenlee admits to Woody that she wants him to hire Lena as a way to get back at Erica. In the end, Woody agrees to give Lena a job at Greenlee Investments.

From About All My Children
http://allmychildren.about.com/cs/recaps/a/bl20030606r.htm

[He] [Woody] says he’s got to get back to work, so wants to get to the reason for her call, “You want me to hire somebody?” Greenlee says she’s brilliant, an expert in finance with years of international experience! Woody says her timing’s perfect, he just lost an analyst and asks her name? When Greenlee tells him, he exclaims, “The woman in the middle of the Michael Cambias scandal—the one who was working for Enchantment while spying for him? Don’t waste my time—the answer is no!”...

Greenlee shows Woody notes from her conversations with previous employers all over Europe, and they couldn’t have been more excited about her; this whole Michael Cambias thing will blow over. Woody looks over the list of financial institutions and corporations as he asks, if this girl is such a find, why didn’t she hire her for Fusion? Greenlee says they can’t afford her, but she’d be a perfect fit for Greenlee Enterprises, and she’s doing a favor for a friend, Bianca Montgomery. Woody asks why her mother doesn’t just rehire this girl? Greens tells him Erica would rather die than hire her daughter’s girlfriend. Now Woody gets it; Greenlee doesn’t want to help Bianca—she wants to hurt Erica! Greenlee laughs at the idea that she has time to carry on vendettas, but Woody says she’ll have to come clean with him about why she wants to help this Lena, “A Good Samaritan you are not!” Greenlee admits it’s because of Leo. He loved Bianca like a sister and she reminded her that she gave him a second chance that changed their lives; if Leo was here, he’d be for it. Woody’ll buy that, and he supposes the chance to rub Erica’s nose in it is just a bonus? Greenlee agrees it certainly is! He should have heard the way she was talking to her about not hiring Lena; she’s sick of the mind control she plays on everyone in the world, including her own daughter! Woody thinks it sounds like Erica struck a nerve. Greenlee says Enchantment is Fusion’s main competition; if she backs away from her threats, Erica will use it against her. Woody agrees if getting this young woman a job puts Erica on notice, by all means, she should do it! He’ll hire Lena, but there’s a condition, “What I want in return, the next time your mother starts warning you about certain guys, you tell her where to get off!” She agrees, and they shake on it.

While Bianca waits at the Valley Inn for her date, she calls Lena’s room, and is startled to hear that she has checked out. She learns that she’s coming back to get her luggage and leaves a message to call her before she goes anywhere. Boyd comes in apologizing for being late, but Bianca says it doesn’t matter. Surprised, Boyd says he thought she needed a favor. She agrees she does, for Lena, but it’s probably already too late. She explains that Lena has 24 hours to get a new job and a work visa; she called the front desk and learned she’s checked out already, but would love to be able to tell her something when she comes back to get her bags. Boyd asks if she was expecting him to put in a good word for her with Erica and Binks exclaims, “God, no!” She was thinking about another cosmetics company, saying she knows he has a lot of contacts. He suggests Fusion, but she tells him that Greenlee vetoed that. Boyd sees how important this is to her, and thinks of a friend that owes him big time! Unfortunately, she’s out of the office until next week, but he says something will come up. Bianca’s glad she called him, saying she was thisclose to giving up.

When Boyd tries to change the subject to their lunch order, she exclaims, “You’re not serious! She did this—my mother was the one who turned Lena in?” Boyd thinks it’s done, so they should just take the time to concentrate on finding Lena a job. Bianca agrees, but first she’s going to find her mother and tell her once and for all to stay the hell out of her life!

Lena is shown into Adam’s office and told he’ll be with her shortly. She’s startled when Michael comes into the office and closes the door behind him. When she asks what he’s doing here, Cambias says maybe giving her a job, if she’ll mind her manners! He’s Adam’s new right-hand man, and gestures about him as he declares, “One day, all of this is going to be mine!” Lena laughs at the notion of Michael as the future head of Chandler Enterprises. He tells her he’s anticipating the day Adam Chandler sees his work and eventually steps aside so he can take over. “The way your father saw your work and the way Erica Kane stepped aside so you could take over Enchantment?” she asks. Michael reminds her that she’s here for a job; if she hopes to get one, it might be wise to show him some respect. When she goes to see what’s keeping Adam, Michael says the mark of a great businessman is knowing when to delegate; when he offered to interview his former employee, of course Adam agreed. Adam won’t see her unless he tells him it’s not a complete waste of him time. Lena tells him not to bother and starts to leave, saying he’s a waste of hers! Michael roughly grabs her arm—he’ll decide when this interview is over, “Now, just how badly do you want to stay in this country?” Lena’s not afraid of him—even he wouldn’t consider raping her on Mr. Chandler’s conference room table! Lena knows what he’s capable of, but admits he never forced her to sleep with him. Cambias agrees she was quite willing and eager, and notes that he has the upper hand—they should talk about her job here. Lena is surprised he would even consider working with her again, but he explains if he’s going to make himself indispensable to Adam Chandler, he’s going to need somebody in his corner. So, if he can be assured of her loyalty, there’s no problem. Lena asks if he really thinks she wants to have anything to do with him ever again? Michael thinks, in spite of this apparent outrage, they did admire each other once and made a great team. She should take a chance—they’d be good for each other. Lena needs a job, but even if she had to work in a garbage dump, she would still feel a whole lot cleaner than working with him! Michael notes that garbage dump is going to be in Poland right after Immigration shoves her on a plane out of here. When Lena says she’ll take her chances, Michael asks what about Bianca? Lena doubts if getting involved with him will increase her chances with Bianca; at least if she’s deported, Bianca won’t think badly of her! Lena insists she’s changed, adding that’s what happens when you fall in love, but he wouldn’t know anything about that! Michael guesses that’s like being color blind from birth; if you’ve never had it, how can you miss it? Lena thinks he should keep on telling himself that, but she thinks he knows what it’s like waking up every morning knowing that nobody, not even his father, gives a d*** about him! Erica takes a moment to compose herself before Myrtle opens the door. She asks if Myrtle’s seen Bianca today and if she had any visitors? Myrtle tells her that Bianca went to meet someone at the Valley Inn, but she didn’t say who. Erica insists that Myrtle knows she was meeting Lena, and demands to know how she could let her go? She saw how dangerous that woman is! Mrs. Fargate notes that there’s only one dangerous woman here, and that’s Erica! When Ms. Kane argues that she’s not the one who’s going to break Bianca’s heart, Myrtle exclaims, “Like hell you’re not!” She tells her not to think for a minute that she’s going to help her spoil Bianca’s chance of being happy. Erica insists no one wants to see Bianca happy more than she does! “Except without Lena, or Frankie, or whatshername, Sarah,” Myrtle notes. Erica argues this has nothing to do with Bianca being with a woman; Lena is a known liar and a thief! Myrtle thinks Bianca has a good head on her shoulders; even if she is having some kind of relationship with Lena, Erica can count on her good sense! Erica asks if she isn’t a bit suspicious that Lena is using Bianca to get a job so she won’t be deported? Myrtle says that isn’t going to spoil the relationship—Bianca could follow her, and Erica could lose her altogether. Erica insists it’s very common for people to lose their work visas, especially in the cosmetics industry where there are so many foreign workers. They go away, wait for a while, get another job and return, but by the time Lena does that, Bianca will be over her, so that’s why it’s so important they keep them apart until Lena goes, “Any minute now!” When Mrs. Fargate wonders how the Feds got onto this so fast, Erica asks if it matters? At last, all those taxes she pays are being well spent! “You did it!” Myrtle exclaims. Erica admits she did, to spare Bianca any heartache, “And once she knows that, she’s going to thank me!” Myrtle asks if she’ll thank her, the way Jackson will thank her? She asks if that’s not why she called off her wedding plans, so Jack wouldn’t get hurt? Why is it that every time she gets showered with happiness and love, she puts up her umbrella? This is exactly the time she mustn’t push away the chance she’s got at being really, very happy! Erica argues that her life doesn’t need fixing, and Myrtle agrees, not since she threw Jackson out to protect him from what, love? Does she think what she’s doing is going to make Bianca’s or Jack’s life better? Erica argues it’s not fair to compare them, and what Bianca feels for Lena is not love; she doesn’t want her to get hurt! Myrtle wisely says she’ll get hurt, many times, but the only way to protect her is teach her how to love, so if she gets hurt in the process, at least she’ll have the courage to fall in love again. As Erica says that’s she will do everything she can to keep Lena as far away from Bianca as possible, Lena comes through the door.

Erica demands to know why she’s not home packing her bags? When Lena says she’d like to see Bianca, Erica asks if she wants to tell her she loves her and is sorry she hurt her, all the usual lies? Lena insists her love for Bianca isn’t a lie, and if she could get a job scrubbing toilets just to stay in this country, she would do it to prove her love. Erica asks why she doesn’t do it? Lena replies that such a job would not get her a work visa, as she knows—she’s been making phone calls all over town, making sure she didn’t get hired by another cosmetics company! Bianca comes through the open door and asks if that’s true? Erica admits she made a few calls, as a professional courtesy, and Bianca questions if it was a professional courtesy to call the INS? She went behind her back to keep her away from the person she loves! Lena looks at her in wonder at Erica insists this has nothing to do with her sexuality. Bianca believes her, saying she thinks her mom can’t stand the fact that she could have feelings for anyone but her! It hit her on the way over here, “You’ve pushed Uncle Jack out of your life, now I’m the only one you’ve got left, and you are going to do anything it takes to make sure I stay exactly where I am, won’t you, Mother?” Erica denies it, but Bianca is facing facts, “You won’t be happy until I am as sad and as lonely as you are!” Erica silently leaves.

Lena takes a call and exclaims, “Greenlee, a job? I start tomorrow?” Greenlee agrees, at Greenlee Investments on Pine Street, ten o’clock sharp! Lena happily thanks her. Greens tells her she’s welcome but adds, “Hey, no corporate espionage—this is my granddaddy we’re talking about!” Lena beams as she agrees and thanks her. She turns to Bianca and Myrtle and joyously declares, “I can stay!”

From Soap Slut
http://pub18.ezboard.com/fsoapslutfrm16.showMessage?topicID=87.topic

Lena turns up at Chandler Enterprises looking for a position, but to her dismay Adam isn't the interviewer -- *sshole is. He actually still expects that she'd want the job after learning she'd be working with him again. Loser. He smirks that if she doesn't take this job, she'll be tossed out of the country on her *ss. She doesn't care; she's trying to stay to have another shot with Bianca and taking a job with him wouldn't get her any progress there anyway. He roughs her around a bit (sigh) before letting her leave.

Meanwhile, Bianca turns to Boyd for help getting Lena a job. She doesn't necessarily want to run back to her arms, but she doesn't want Lena deported either. She finds out through Boyd's uncomfortable silence that her mother was the one who called the INS. Lids are flipped.

Erica, having no idea that her youngest daughter is about to storm a warpath all over her, comes to Myrtle's but doesn't find a sympathetic ear. Myrtle figures out easily that Erica alerted the INS and tells her frankly that she had no business getting into any of this. She's going to meddle Bianca straight out of her life, especially since if Lena does get deported, Bianca's likely to just hop a plane and follow her. Ha. Didn't think of that, did you Erica?

Woodruff (I love typing "Woodruff", by the way -- and I almost love it more that abc.com recaps him as "Woody") arrives at Fusion at Greenlee's request to meet him...Woodruff nearly walks out on her when he realizes just who she wants him to employ. Greenlee begs, though and he soon gets her to admit that she isn't trying to get him a quality employee (though Lena is) and then that she isn't really trying to get back at Erica, either. She's just trying to do what Leo would have wanted. Woodruff happily agrees to this.

Lena, Erica, and Bianca all wind up at Myrtle's, where Bianca is in the middle of ripping Erica a new one. They're all interrupted as Lena gets the call confirming a job from Greenlee. Erica looks like she just swallowed a pair of her designer shoes.

TODAY ON AMC:

  • Today's episode is brought to you by Red Lobster.
  • Bianca wakes up.
  • Boyd wakes up - from his nap.
  • Lena wishes she were a maid.
  • Erica reaches new depths.
  • Woody comes through.

Before The Break - It's mayhem at Fusion: apparently that's what happens when one looks for America's sexiest man.

Erica is outside a garish red door: it could only be Myrtle's Boarding House. Oh god! She has lobsters on her shirt. Not Erica, Myrtle.

Erica: "How could you let Bianca go? You saw how dangerous that woman is."
Myrtle: "I only know one dangerous woman here at this moment and that is you."

You go Myrtle! Erica is nothing but trouble.

Erica: "Myrtle, I am not the one who is going to break Bianca's heart."

Oh, pshaw! You've done it many times, Cruella: don't make me bring out Power Point to illustrate just how many.

Fusion - Greenlee and her grandpa are bonding. Over Carloser, of all things. Kendall marches behind Mia, trying to dissuade her from seeing Michael again. I'm distracted by the sleeves on Kendall's shirt: I think that, if she were to walk with just one more ounce of purpose, she'd take flight.

Chandler Enterprises - Michael dear, you're looking disgusting: how's tricks?

Michael: "Haven't you heard? I'm Adam Chandler's new right-hand man."

Suddenly all those jokes I made about the two of them being on a date flood back and I feel queasy.

As Lena walks away, Michael grabs her, spins her around and tells her he'll decide when the interview is over. Yeah, your wee-wee is really tiny, isn't it?

Michael: "Just how badly do you want to stay in this country?"

Not badly enough to suffer through your disgusting breath, SkunkAss.

At A Bar - Bianca and Gel Boy are chatting; she's nice enough not to mention his shirt matches the tablecloth.

Bianca: "So now Lena has 24 hours to get a new job and a work visa."

I'm just going to ignore all legal fallacies. I have to, or my head will explode.

Boyd: "So what, does this mean you're finally giving Lena a second chance?"
Bianca: "Ah, well, I don't know if I'm giving her a second chance, it's just...I don't think it's fair that she should get thrown out of the country just because she lost her job at Enchantment."

You want to help because it's not fair? U-huh: if that's what you need to believe, Binks.

Boyd: "Bianca, you can't feel responsible for that."

Nap Boy! This is where you tell Bianca that it's time to face facts and give Lena a shot: no one cares about her guilty conscience.

Bianca: "You know what, none of this would even matter if we just had more time: Lena could get another job easily: it's just our bad luck that the INS already found out that my mother fired her. I guess they really are cracking down these days."

Yeah, you should count your blessings Lena is not already in Guantanamo.

Boyd looks away 'cause he knows Erica ratted out Lena - and we know he knows, but we also know Bianca doesn't know that he knows or that we know he knows. Wait, what?

Bianca: "You're not serious! She did this? My mother was the one who turned Lena in?"

Bianca, you're awake! How nice of you to join us. Pull up a chair and let us tell you a story: you're in it.

Myrtle's Boarding House - Erica's crest is rising: would you look at that hair?

Myrtle: "Erica, Erica: don't think. Don't make the mistake of believing that I'm going to help you to spoil Bianca's chance of being happy."

Oh, that's it: my brain has folded and my ears have fallen off. Again. What is that sentence?

Erica: "Myrtle, no one wants to see Bianca happy more than I do."
Myrtle: "Except without Lena. Or Frankie. Or, what's her name, Sarah."

Myrtle, come here! We can not watch soaps and go on in our ignorance together. Just, please, take off that shirt and put on one that's a bit less loud like, oh, one with a blinking Christmas tree on the front.

Myrtle: "Erica, Bianca has a very good head on her shoulder."

Oh, that's why she's either smart or stupid: she has one head for each shoulder!

Erica: "You mean to tell me Myrtle that you are not at all suspicious that maybe Lena is using Bianca to get a job so she won't have to be deported?"

I dunno Erica: right now I'm just freaked that I can count your ribs.

Erica: "I am doing this to spare Bianca any kind of heartache and she knows that. She's gonna thank me."

We're in a time anomaly again, aren't we? Erica, Bianca is going to thank you by throwing you into the river.

Fusion - Kendall and Mia are still bickering about Michael. I am riveted to the screen. No, not the TV screen with AMC, the one with Fox News. Yes, the one I use for target practice: Neil Cavuto is on and his head is so big that I can hit it from 500 yards away. With my eyes closed.

Chandler Enterprises - Michael is still holding on to Lena' s arm. Again: tiny penis.

Michael: "What are you saying, that I forced you to do things you didn't wanna do? Is this going to be your convenient story now?"
Lena: "No, you never forced me to sleep with you."

I feel strangely ambivalent about that: of course I’m supremely glad that b****** didn't touch you against your will but, dude, what is up with your taste in men?

Michael: "What about Bianca?"
Lena: "I hardly think that getting mixed up with you is going to increase my chances with Bianca."
Michael: "So, you're willing to be deported, are you?"
Lena: "At least that way she won't think badly of me."

Aww. You're in love and smitten and honorable all at once. Sniff.

Lena: "Keep telling yourself that, but I think you know what it's like to wake up every morning knowing that nobody, nobody, not even your father, gives a d*** about you."

Ouch, below the belt Lena. But who cares: he's got nothing there.

Myrtle's Boarding House - Myrtle and Erica are still feuding; I stop throwing darts at Shepard Smith's face and tune in when I hear Erica say that she doesn't want Bianca to get hurt. I regret my choice instantly.

Myrtle: "She'll get hurt, many times, but the only way that you can protect her is teach her how to love so that, if she gets hurt in the process, at least she'll have the courage to fall in love again."

You dropped a much needed preposition there, Myrtle. But you're right, that is a very important thing. This being a soap though, Bianca has already given her I-had-given-up-on-love-and-then-I-met-you-but-then-you-lied-so-I'll-go-back-to-never-loving-anyone-ever-again speech.

Erica: "But Bianca is not prepared to be hurt the way Lena can hurt her, she's not, and that's why I will do everything I can possibly do to keep Lena as far away from Bianca as is humanly possible."

Ok Mother Courage, settle down. For all of Lena's faults, she could not hurt Bianca any more than any other woman would: that is just how it works when you're in love.

At Fusion - Greenlee is still trying to convince Woody that he should hire Lena; she finally gets him to listen when she tells him she wants to help Lena because of Leo: Woody buys that and agrees to hire her.

I buy that, too, and I have never even seen Leo: pissing off Erica is just icing on the cake.

Myrtle's Boarding House – Erica doesn’t intimidate Lena.

Lena: "Because you've been making phone calls all over town, making sure I don't get hired by another cosmetics company."
Bianca: "Is that true mom? Is it?"
Erica: "All right, yes, I made a few phone calls: why shouldn't I warn my friends in the business about you? It was professional courtesy."

You’re an interrogator's wet dream, Erica.

Bianca: "You went behind my back to try to keep me away from the person that I love."

Figures that Lena would hear that like this. Feh.

Erica: "Bianca, this has nothing to do with your sexuality."

All right, that's it: how does that have anything at all to do with what Bianca's just said? Erica, back to P-FLAG school, chop chop!

Bianca: "I believe you. I think that you just can't stand the fact that I could have feelings for anyone but you."

Oh no! Did you have to bring Electra into this?

Erica: "That's absurd!"

I'm inclined to agree, but I'm going to let Bianca go all the way down the cliff first.

Bianca: "Yeah, it hit me on the way over here. You've pushed Uncle Jack out of your life: now I'm the only one that you've got left and you are gonna do anything it takes to make sure that I stay exactly where I am, won't you mother?"

Huh. Lena, what do you think? You seem as ambivalent as I am about this.

Erica: "You think that I don't want you to love anyone but me? Bianca, what's gotten into you?"
Bianca: "I'm facing facts: you won't be happy until I am as sad and lonely as you are."

Whoa. Just a tad too far there, Binky. Turn around: Lena has a look that says she'd rather you didn't burn this particular bridge - and she thinks you're nuts: pretty soon you'll have to beg her for a second chance.

Erica leaves, Lena's cell phone rings and Greenlee tells her Grandpa Woody has agreed to hire her.

Lena: "I can stay."

Myrtle seems happier than Bianca, though that might be because Bianca is too busy feeling relieved. I get it Binks: you'll celebrate later.

MONDAY ON AMC: Just crap! Crap, crap, crap!

PARODY

This parody is by LizzieT.

Lena parts are indicated in red for those who only want a Lena fix At Fusion, Kendall and Simone were horrified to find out that Mia had heard from Michael.
Kendall: You can't be seriously thinking about going out with him.
Simone: Really. Even I wouldn't consider going out with him and that's saying something.
Mia: After being dumped by Jake and Edmund, he might not be so bad.
Kendall: He's not even human. He's just a pathetic little maggot.
Maggot: Please! We resent the comparison. May I suggest human hemorrhoid?
Kendall: Works for me. Mia, don't do it!
Mia: You can't tell me what to do. If I want to date the human hemorrhoid I will. And don't act so superior. You were madly in love with him.
Kendall: Yes, but he was only a slug then.

Greenlee's grandfather came to see her at Fusion.
Woodruff: Oh look, it's Carlos. He's hot - and just perfect for you.
Greenlee: Not you too Grandfather.
Woodruff: Don't be such a snob Greenlee. Everyone can't be a good actor you know. Just accept Carlos for what he is and be happy.
Greenlee: I'll try. I asked you over here to beg you to give Lena a job.
Woodruff: The woman who spied for Michael Cambias and stole a disk from Erica Kane's penthouse? Why should I hire her?
Greenlee: Leo would have wanted you to.

Boyd met Bianca at the Valley Inn bar.
Bianca: I want you to help me find a job for Lena.
Boyd: That makes sense. After all, I'm still a newbie and you know everyone in town. In fact, through your mother's marriages you've been related to practically everyone in town.
Bianca: We have to find a job for her soon or she'll be deported. I wonder how immigration found out that she was unemployed so fast?
Boyd: Whoa, look at the time. I've got to run.
Bianca: Oh no! She did it didn't she?
Boyd: She who?
Bianca: My mother - your boss - Erica.
Boyd: Erica who?
Bianca: Don't try to cover for her Boyd. I'm going right now to tell her to stay out of my life. It's always worked so well before.

Lena had a job interview with Chandler Enterprises.
Michael: What can I do for you?
Lena: How did you get in here?
Michael: I oozed under the door. Maybe I should stop oozing now that the slugs don't claim me as one of their own.
Lena: I think you can keep oozing. I've heard that they're calling you the human hemorrhoid.
Michael: How thoughtful. I work for Chandler Enterprises now you know. Someday all of this will be mine.
Lena: What - the curtains? You'll never amount to anything here Michael. YOUR BROTHER might have but not you.
Michael: You'll be sorry. I have a great future ahead of me.
Lena: I don't know. I have a feeling wardrobe is getting a body bag ready in your size.

Myrtle tried to reason with Erica.
Myrtle: Having Lena deported isn't the answer.
Erica: I don't want Bianca to be hurt. She'll thank me for interferring in her life like this. It's always worked so well so far.
Myrtle: You'll drive her away the same way you ended things with Jack.
Erica: So did Jack and I really break up? I wasn't sure.
Myrtle: You told him you were leaving him.
Erica: I know. But then I seemed surprised when he moved out and he told me to keep the ring so I couldn't tell if we broke up or not.
Lena: I thought you were still together but just giving each other breathing room.
Erica: Are you still in the country? I'd better call Donald Rumsfeld and tell him to get moving on this.
Bianca: How could you do this to me?
Erica: It's not because you're gay.
Bianca: I know. The audience is tired of that scene. This time I'm going to say you don't like Lena because you want me to be all alone - just like you since you broke up with Uncle Jack.
Erica: So it's for sure that Jack and I broke up?
Bianca: Absolutely.
Erica: What about Flanders? Is he really dead?
Bianca: That I'm not sure about.
Lena: Could you get back to arguing about me? I may have to leave the country at any minute.
:::ring::::
Greenlee: I got you a job. Be sure and tell Erica that I was behind it. For some reason, they're setting us up to be bitter enemies again.

QUOTES

Myrtle: Darling, I only know one dangerous woman here at this moment and that is you.

Myrtle: She'll thank you, the way Jackson will thank you.

Lena: Surely even you wouldn't consider raping me on Mr. Chandler's conference room table.

Michael: You were more than willing -- eager, in fact, which is why this whole... turn of events in your love life is quite perplexing, to say the least.

Michael: Well, you know, in spite of this apparent outrage, I do think that we admire each other. We did make a great team once. I think you should take a chance, Lena. We'd be good for each other.

Lena: Even if I had to work in a garbage dump, I would still feel a whole lot cleaner than being anywhere near you.

Lena: Keep telling yourself that, but I think you know what it's like waking up every morning knowing that nobody... no, really nobody, not even your father, gives a d*** about you.

Bianca: So now my mother is not just ruining my life, she's ruining Lena's too?

Greenlee: Erica would rather die than re-hire her daughter's girlfriend.

Erica: Shouldn't you be home packing your bags?

Lena: My love for Bianca is not a lie. And if getting a job... scrubbing toilets could keep me in this country, I would do it, just to prove it to her.

Bianca: You went behind my back, to try to keep me away from the person that I love.

Bianca: Yeah. It hit me on the way over here. You've pushed Uncle Jack out of your life. Now I'm the only one that you've got left, and you are going to do anything it takes to make sure that I stay exactly where I am, won't you, mother?

Greenlee: Bianca was one of Leo's best friends. And more than that, he loved her like a sister. She reminded me that I gave him a second chance that changed both of our lives. She wants to give Lena a second chance, and I know if Leo was here he'd be all for it.

[Chandler Enterprises conference room. The French doors open inward as an administrative assistant shows Lena in] Admin: Make yourself comfortable. Mr. Chandler will be with you shortly]
Lena: Thank you. [looks around, places her briefcase on the table and her purse on a chair; crosses her arms and rubs them as if cold or nervous. Turns quickly at the sound of the door closing and sees Michael standing there smugly] Michael! What are you doing here?
Michael: Well, maybe giving you a job -- *if* you mind your manners.
Lena: [confused] What are you talking about?
Michael: Haven't you heard? [walks toward Lena; her hand reaches for the back of a chair and she looks poised for flight] I'm Adam Chandler's new right-hand man. [sweeping Michael gesture] Someday all this here... is gonna be mine. [Note to Michael: Neckties. Look into them]

***** (clip d) [Michael asks Lena how badly she wants to stay in the US]

Lena: You? You, the future head of Chandler Enterprises?
Michael: [pours himself a glass of water] Well, I'm anticipating the day when Adam Chandler sees my worth and then eventually steps aside so I can take over.
Lena: I see. The way your father saw your worth, and the way Erica Kane stepped aside to let you take over Enchantment. [smiles, not pleasantly, as she says this line -- she knows exactly how to get a rise out of Michael and she's confident that she knows just how far to push]
Michael: You're here for a job. If you hope to get one, you'd be wise to show me some respect.
Lena: [walks toward Michael] Actually, I'm here to see Mr. Chandler so if you don't mind, I'll just go and see what's keeping him.
Michael: That would be me.
Lena: What?
Michael: [moves in very close to Lena] Lena, the mark of a great business man is knowing when to delegate, so when I offered to interview my former employee, of course he agreed. [moves behind her to place his glass on the table]
Lena: Ah. So [laughs humorlessly] I don't get to see him at all.
Michael: Well, not unless I tell him it's not a complete waste of his time.
Lena: Don't bother. You're a waste of mine.
Michael: [grabs Lena by the arm as she turns away, then roughly swings her around so she winds up sitting on the table] I decide when this interview is over. Now. Just how badly do you want to stay in this country?

***** (clip h) [Lena refuses Michael's job offer]

Lena: [pushes his arm away] I'm not afraid of you.
Michael: Well, good. [starts to straighten her dress but she brushes off the familiar gesture]
Lena: [smiles -- again, not pleasantly] Surely even you wouldn't consider raping me on Mr. Chandler's conference room table.
Michael: You know, I'm really going to have to consider slander charges against Erica and Kendall. These rumors are getting quite boring.
Lena: [stands] I know what you're capable of.
Michael: What are you saying, that I forced you to do things you didn't want to do? Is this gonna be your convenient story now?
Lena: No, you never forced me to sleep with you.
Michael: Well, of course not, you were more than willing -- eager, in fact, which is why this whole... turn of events in your love life is quite perplexing, to say the least.
Lena: Swell. [dismissive gesture as they turn away from one another] You believe whatever you want to believe.
Michael: Yes, and right now, I do believe that I have the upper hand. [claps and rubs hands together] So, let's talk about your job here, shall we, hmm?
Lena: laughs] You can't be serious.
Michael: [moves around to the opposite side of the table] Well, why not? I'm perfectly willing to give Adam Chandler a positive report. After all, I know that you are excellent at taking orders, you're self-reliant, self-motivated.
Lena: [crosses arms] You'd seriously consider working with me again?
Michael: Lena, [sits at the table] if I am going to make myself indispensable to Adam Chandler, I am gonna need somebody in my corner. So, if I can be assured of your loyalty, there's no problem.
Lena: [stepping on his line] Loyalty! You really think I'd ever want to have anything to do with you ever again?
Michael: Well, you know, in spite of this apparent outrage, I do think that we admire each other. We did make a great team once. I think you should take a chance, Lena. We'd be good for each other.
Lena: Well, I certainly do need a job.
Michael: Mmhmm, and you're not gonna get a better offer than you would here.
Lena: Even if I had to work in a garbage dump, I would still feel a whole lot cleaner than being anywhere near you.
Michael: [sniggers] Suit yourself. Just as long as you know that garbage dump is gonna be in Poland -- right after Immigration gets done shoving you on the first plane out of here.
Lena: Well, [walks around the table] I'll take my chances. [Michael snatches up her briefcase -- which looks awfully empty -- as she reaches for it]
Michael: What about Bianca?
Lena: I hardly think that getting mixed up with you is going to increase my chances with Bianca. [picks up purse]
Michael: So you're willing to be deported, are you?
Lena: At least that way she won't think badly of me. [reaches across him and grabs her briefcase, then moves to the door]
Michael: That's funny, coming from the woman who hopped from bed to bed without a second thought. [gets up from the table]
Lena: Well, I've changed. That's what happens when you fall in love, but... you wouldn't know about that.
Michael: I suppose it's kind of like being color-blind from birth -- you know, if you never had it, how can you miss it?
Lena: Mm. Keep telling yourself that, but [moves closer to him, leaning in. In heels, she's taller than he is -- hee!] I think you know what it's like waking up every morning knowing that nobody... no, really nobody, not even your father, gives a damn about you. [walks out the door; Michael starts to follow, then watches her leave]

***** (clip j) [Myrtle and Erica are talking about Lena when Lena walks in on them]

[at Myrtle's]
Erica: Myrtle, this is just too much. My life doesn't need fixing.
Myrtle: Nonsense. You threw Jackson out
Erica: I did that to protect Jack.
Myrtle: Protect Jack? Protect Jack. Protect Bianca. Protect them -- from what? Love? You think that's going to make their life better?
Erica: Believe me, Myrtle, what Bianca feels for Lena is, is, is *not* love.
Myrtle: And what, exactly, does Jackson feel for you, and you for him?
Erica: Myrtle, that's not fair. They are not the same thing. I don't want Bianca to get hurt.
Myrtle: She'll get hurt. Many times. The only way that you can protect her is -- teach her how to love, so that if she gets hurt in the process, at least she'll have the courage to fall in love again.
Erica: But Bianca is not prepared to be hurt the way that Lena can hurt her. She is not. And that's why I will do everything I possibly can to keep Lena as far away from Bianca as is humanly possible. [naturally Lena picks this moment to walk in]

***** (clip l) [Lena accuses Erica of blacklisting her in Pine Valley]

Erica: Shouldn't you be home packing your bags?
Lena: [addresses Myrtle] I'd like to see Bianca.
Erica: Oh, to tell her what? That you love her? That you're sorry you hurt her? All the usual lies?
Lena: My love for Bianca is not a lie. And if getting a job... scrubbing toilets could keep me in this country, I would do it, just to prove it to her.
Erica: Then why don't you get such a job?
Lena: Because such a job wouldn't get me a work visa, as you know.
Erica: How would *I* know?
Lena: Because you've been making phone calls all over town, making sure I don't get hired by another cosmetics company. [Note: just how *many* cosmetics companies are there in Pine Valley?]
Bianca: [offscreen] Is that true, Mom? [Lena turns to see Binks standing in the open doorway. Binks steps toward them] Is it?

***** (clip m) [Bianca tells Erica that Lena is the "person I love"]

Erica: All right, yes. I made a few phone calls. Why shouldn't I warn my friends in the business about you? That was a professional courtesy.
Bianca: [walks toward Erica as Lena crosses behind her, out of the line of fire] Ah, and was it a professional courtesy to call the INS?
Erica: Bianca, Lena has hurt you so badly, honey. I was just trying to spare you.
Bianca: You went behind my back, to try to keep me away from the person that I love. [Lena reacts in the background]
Erica: Bianca, this has nothing to do with your sexuality.
Bianca: I believe you. I think that you just can't stand the fact that I could have feelings for anyone but you.
Erica: That's absurd!
Bianca: Yeah. It hit me on the way over here. You've pushed Uncle Jack out of your life. Now I'm the only one that you've got left, and you are going to do anything it takes to make sure that I stay exactly where I am, won't you, mother?

***** (clip o) [Greenlee calls Lena about the job]

Erica: [diva disbelief] You think that I don't want you to love anyone but me? Bianca, what's gotten into you?
Bianca: I'm facing facts. You won't be happy until I'm as sad and as lonely as you are.
[Erica starts to say something, but instead picks up her purse and walks offscreen, presumably out the door. Lena's cell phone rings and, somewhat abashedly, she answers it]
Lena: Hello?
Greenlee: [calling from Fusion with Woody in the background] Tomorrow morning, ten a. m., Greenlee Investments on Pine Avenue.
Lena: Greenlee, oh my Lord, a -- a job? I start tomorrow?
VoG: Ten o'clock sharp.
Lena: Thank you! Thank you so much!
VoG: You're welcome. And hey. [onscreen] No corporate espionage -- this is my granddaddy we're talking about.
Lena: Of course. Greenlee, thank you. [disconnects, then turns to Binks and Myrtle; she's happy and relieved but her expression is somewhat muted, probably because of the Kane fireworks she's just been privy to] I can stay.

***** (clip a) [Myrtle gets snarky with Erica when Erica gets weird about Lena (no Lena)]

[amc030606a starts]
[Outside Myrtle's boarding house; Erica knocks on the door; Erica has Excedrin headache #367; Myrtle answers]
Myrtle: Erica, hello, my darling.
Erica: Hi
Myrtle: Come on in.
[inside]
Myrtle: How are you?
Erica: I'm perfectly fine. Myrtle, have you seen Bianca today? Did she have any visitors?
Myrtle: Well, I saw her go to meet someone at the Valley Inn. She didn't say who.
Erica: But you know who, don't you? You know she was going there to meet Lena. Myrtle, how could you let Bianca go? You saw how dangerous that woman is.
Myrtle: Darling, I only know one dangerous woman here at this moment and that is you.
Erica: Myrtle, I am not the one who is gong to break Bianca's heart.
Myrtle: Like h*** you're not.

***** (clip b) [Bianca finds out that Lena has checked out of the Pine valley Inn (no Lena)]

[amc030606b starts]
[Pine Valley Inn]
Waiter: Hi, can I get you anything?
Bianca: Oh, I'll order when my date gets here.
Waiter: No hurry.
Bianca: Thanks.
[Looks at watch; takes out cellphone; calls someone]
Bianca: Front desk. Yes, could you give me room 867 please? Checked out? Are you sure? I'm calling Lena Kundera. She did? When? Oh, um, okay. Well, did she say when she was coming back to get her luggage? All right, I would like to leave a message. Please tell her to call Bianca before she goes anywhere. Thank you.
[She hangs up and Boyd comes in]
Boyd: Hey, I'm so sorry but we had a problem at the lab and I just couldn't get away.
Bianca: No, that's okay. It doesn't matter.
Boyd: What are you talking about? You said you needed a favor.
Bianca: Well, I do but not for me, for Lena.
Boyd: Oh
Bianca: But I think that it's probably already too late.

***** (clip c) [Lena finds out Michael works for Adam]

[amc030606c starts]
[Chandler Enterprises conference room]
Administrator: Make yourself comfortable. Mr. Chandler will be with you shortly
Lena: Thank you.
[Michael enters the room]
Lena: Michael! What are you doing here?
Michael: Well, maybe giving you a job -- if you mind your manners.
Lena: What are you talking about?
Michael: Haven't you heard? I'm Adam Chandler's new right-hand man. Someday all this here is gonna be mine.

***** (clip d) [Michael asks Lena how badly she wants to stay in the US]

[amc030606d starts]
Lena: You? You, the future head of Chandler Enterprises?
Michael: Well, I'm anticipating the day when Adam Chandler sees my worth and then eventually steps aside so I can take over.
Lena: I see. The way your father saw your worth, and the way Erica Kane stepped aside to let you take over Enchantment.

Lena: Actually, I'm here to see Mr. Chandler so if you don't mind, I'll just go and see what's keeping him.

***** (clip e) [Bianca finds out her mother turned in Lena (no Lena)]

[amc030606e starts]
Bianca: So, now Lena has 24 hours to get a new job and a work visa.
Boyd: Okay, well that still means we have 24 hours, right? Why are you saying it's too late?
BIanca: Because I just called the front desk and he said she checked out already. I think that she must have just gotten discouraged. But they still have her bags and I would love to be able to tell her something when she comes back to get them.
Boyd: You weren't expecting me to put in a good word for her with Erica, were you?
Bianca: God, no. I was thinking another cosmetics company. I know that you have a lot of contacts.
Boyd: Okay, well there's Fusion.
Bianca: Yeah, I talked to Greenlee. Look, I trust you a lot more than I trust her.
Boyd: Well, listen, I appreciate the vote of confidence but uh --
Bianca: I know. I'm sorry. I don't mean to put you on the spot here.
Boyd: No, you're not. Okay? It's okay. I can see how important this to you. Let me think. Wait a second. Bobby Renig. Bobby Renig at Ricola Cosmetics. She owes me.
Bianca: She does? Are you sure?
Boyd: Totally. She owes me big time. Work visa big time at least.
[Boyd takes out his cellphone]
Bianca: Well, I love you and if this works out I will owe you big time.
Boyd: Just remember you said that. (Into phone) Hello? Yeah hi, this is Boyd Larraby. Is Bobby in? Oh, when? Thanks. No, no, no message. (he hangs up) Ah, she's not going to be in the office until next week. I'm sorry. Aw, come on, let's not give up yet. I mean, something will come up.
Bianca: I'm awfully glad I called you Boyd. I was this close to giving up.
Boyd: Yeah, well don't. I'm going to do everything I can. I promise. So, what, does this mean you're finally giving Lena a second chance?
Bianca: I don't know if I am giving her a second chance. I just -- I don't think it's fair that she should get thrown out of the country just because she lost her job at Enchantment.
Boyd: Well, Bianca, you can't feel responsible for that.
Bianca: You know what, none of this would even matter if we just had more time. I mean, Lena could get another job easily, just our bad luck that the INS already found out that my mother fired her. Like, I guess they really are cracking down these days. What?
Boyd: What? Nothing, nothing. Hey, you want to order?
Bianca: You're not serious. She did this? My mother was the one who turned Lena in?

***** (clip f) [Myrtle finds out Erica turned in Lena (no Lena)]

[amc030606f-inc1 starts]
Myrtle: Erica. Erica, don't think -- don't make the mistake of believing that I'm going to help you to spoil Bianca's chance of being happy.
Erica: Myrtle, no one wants to see Bianca happy more than I do.
Myrtle: Except without Lena. Or Frankie. Or what's her name, Sarah.
Erica: Myrtle, this has nothing to do with Bianca being with a woman. Lena is a known liar, a thief. I mean, my God, if I hadn't found out she was in cahoots with Michael Cambias, I mean, might have happened? I might have lost Enchantment.
Myrtle: Erica. Bianca has a very good head on her shoulder. Now she maybe having some kind of relationship with Lena, but you can certainly count on Bianca's good sense.
Erica: You mean to tell me Myrtle, that you are not at all suspicious. That maybe Lena is using Bianca to get a job so she does not have to be deported?
Myrtle: Deported? Well, that's not going to spoil the relationship. If she gets deported there's a very good chance that Bianca might follow her. Then you're going to lose her all together.
Erica: Look, it is very common for people to lose their work visas. It happens all the time especially in the cosmetics industry where there are so many foreign workers. And you know what they do? They go away. They wait for a while. And they get another job. Then they return. By the time Lena does that, Bianca will be way over her.
Myrtle: You have given this a lot of thought.
Erica: That's why it's so important, Myrtle, that we keep then apart until Lena goes.
Myrtle: And like when would that be?
Erica: Oh, any minute now.
Myrtle: So quick? How did the Feds get onto this so fast?
[amc030606f-inc2 starts]
Erica: Well, does it matter? I mean, at last all those taxes I pay are being well spent.
Myrtle: You did it.
Erica: All right, yes I did. Yes, I did, Myrtle. I am doing it to spare Bianca any kind of heartache. And once she knows that, she's going to thank me.
Myrtle: She'll thank you, the way Jackson will thank you.
[amc030606f-inc1 ends]
Erica: Myrtle, I don't see that connection.
Myrtle: So that's why you called off your wedding plans. So Jack wouldn't get hurt.
Erica: Myrtle, I'm not going to explain myself to you.
Myrtle: You don't have to. I mean, if I weren't a certified mindreader, I'd be able to understand exactly what's going on.
Erica: Well, I don't want to hear it.
Myrtle: Erica, Erica, listen to me. Now, why is it, tell me why is it that every time you're showered with happiness and love, you push up your umbrella?
Erica: Myrtle, I didn't come here for this.
Myrtle: Darling, darling, I know. I know you have so much on your mind right now and things do go bad sometimes, but don't you understand, this is exactly the time when you mustn't push away the one chance you have got of being really very happy.

***** (clip g) [Greenlee convinces her Grandfather to hire Lena (no Lena)]

[amc030606g starts]
Woody: Let's get right to the reason for your call. You want me to hire somebody.
Greenlee: Actually, she's brilliant. She's an expert in finance and she has years of international experience.
Woody: As a matter of fact, your timing is perfect. I just lost an analyst. What's her name?
Greenlee: Lena Kundera. She's --
Woody: The woman in the middle of the Michael Cambias scandal? The one who was working for Enchantment while spying for him?
Greenlee: Well, yeah, but there's more to that story --
Woody: Don't waste my time. The answer is no.

***** (clip i) [Bianca decides not to let Erica get away with her harassment of Lena (no Lena)]

[amc030606i starts]
Bianca: So now my mother is not just ruining my life, she's ruining Lena's too? How does she justify this to herself?
Boyd: Look, Bianca, it's done. There's nothing we can do about it, so let's take the time we have and try to find Lena a job.
Bianca: All right. I will, I'm going to, but I'm not going to let my mother get away with this.
Boyd: Where are you going?
Bianca: I'm going to find my mother and I'm going to tell her once and for all to stay the h*** out of my life.

***** (clip k) [Woody figures out why Greenlee wants him to hire Lena (no Lena)]

[amc030606k starts]
Greenlee: Okay here we go. I talked to Lena's previous employers, financial institutions and corporations all over Europe. They couldn't have been more excited about her. I mean, this Michael Cambias thing is an aberation. It will blow over.
Woody: If this girl is such a find, why don't you hire her yuorself?
Greenlee: We can't afford it, but she'd be a perfect fit at Greenlee Investments
Woody: So this is all for my benefit?
Greenlee: And I'm doing a favor for a friend.
Woody: Which one?
Greenlee: Oh, not them. I -- Bianca Montgomery.
Woody: Bianca Montgomery? Why doesn't her mother just re-hire this girl?
Greenlee: Oh, Erica would rather die than re-hire her daughter's girlfriend.
Woody: Oh, so that's what this is about, eh? You don't want to help Bianca, you want to hurt Erica.

[amc030606n starts]
Greenlee: Look around grandfather. Do you think I have a second to spare to carry on vendettas even against Erica?
Woody: Greenlee, you are going to have to come clean with me on why you want to help this Lena. A good samaritan you are not.
Greenlee: It's because of Leo.
Woody: Go on.
Greenlee: Bianca was one of Leo's best friends. And more than that, he loved her like a sister. She reminded me that I gave him a second chance that changed both of our lives. She wants to give Lena a second chance, and I know if Leo was here he'd be all for it.
Woody: I see. I'll buy that. So I suppose the chance to rub Erica's nose in it is just a bonus.
Greenlee: It certainly is. You shoudl have heard the way she was talking to me, daring me not to lift a finger for Lena's sake. I am so sick of the mind control she plays on everyone in the world including her own daughter. Oh, sorry. (Signs for a package) Thanks.
Woody: Sounds like Erica struck a nerve.
Greenlee: Well, Enchantment is Fusion's main competitor. If I back away from Erica's threat, she's going to use it against me. Might as well close up Fusion and go back to being her flunky.
Woody: If getting this young woman a job puts Erica on notice then by all means you should do it.
Greenlee: Does that mean you'll hire Lena?
Woody: She better be as good as you say she is.
Greenlee: She is! She is!
Woody: No, no, now what I want in return --
Greenlee: Name it.
Woody: The next time your mother starts warning you off against this certain guy, you tell her where to get off.
[Greenlee shakes Woody's hand]

The above described clips can also be found on my shared folder on AIM (http://www.aim.com to download). My user name on AIM is kymtaborn. E-mail me with your AIM user name (ktaborn@lightspeed.net) and I will give you access to the shared folder. When you have access, you can right click my user name on your buddy list and then click on get file. That should get you into the shared folder. If you have problems, then tweak your firewall. The downloads are slow because it has to go through the AIM filter AND often there are a lot of people downloading along with you. I apologize for the slow speed but this is the only way that I can distribute the clips at this time.
