An underwater city has possession of a Bailey.
This synopsis is by Sally Dye .
Our heroines (who are wearing cool new red and silver outfits) are checking out a strange distress signal coming from under the ocean. Voice instructs the team to track down the source of the signal. Sarge is reluctant, especially when Voice mentions that she won't be able to communicate with them underwater through the transmitter, but they board a "mole" that Mauser has rigged for use underwater and set out on a deep sea journey. They are attacked with some sort of shock wave weapon which causes their thrusters to lose power. Sarge, who is piloting the sub, goes deeper to avoid the attack, and the sub starts to spring several leaks. Over Hel's objections, Sarge continues to descend.
They seem to have lost their attackers but are unable to rise because they have taken on so much water. Cleo wonders if now is the time to mention she is claustrophobic. Hel instructs Cleo to deal with the leaks. Cleo sees a man's face outside her window, but he disappears and the thrusters suddenly regain power and the leaks stop. Sarge and Hel praise Cleo for correcting the problem. Cleo: "As much as I crave your approval, it wasn't me!" The sub is caught in a current-like beam that begins pulling them into what appears to be a large underwater city. Cleo is intrigued: "Next stop, Atlantis!"
The sub is taken into a bubble-like structure and the team steps out into an incredible marine-like world with many peaceful looking people milling about. Cleo greets them as Atlantians, but several official looking types point weapons at the three and order them to drop their gauntlets. Hel and Sarge are naturally loath to do this. One who seems to be the leader stops the impending shootout and Cleo recognizes him as the man who appeared in the water. Cleo calls him Aquaman, but he introduces himself as Granger. He explains that the initial attack was to dissuade them from coming close to the city, but that when he saw they were in trouble, he went out to help them. He asks them to surrender their weapons while their technicians make further repairs to the sub. Sarge and Hel are still reluctant, but agree. They ask about the distress signal and Shrader (Granger's brother, played by Xena's Hades, Stephen Lovatt) goes supposedly to investigate it.
Granger explains that their world dates from the late 20th Century and that over five centuries their bodies have adapted to living underwater so that they can even swim outside without being crushed by the pressure. He conducts them to their quarters.
Hel and Sarge argue over Sarge's decision to go deeper when they were attacked. Cleo points out that their little power struggle should wait until they are safe back at the lab. A voice that only Cleo can hear speaks, calling her "Sweetie" and asking for her help, but she can't make sense of what is said and thinks she is just hearing things.
Granger and Shrader are also arguing. Shrader is worried that the team already knows too much about them. Granger tells him not to let them learn any more. Hel, Sarge and Cleo join them and they have a short debate over the ways each group has dealt with losing the earth's surface. Cleo hears the voice again and sees a vision of her mother. Cleo's mother says that someone is hurting her, and when she turns around, she has the face of a Bailey. Cleo, of course, screams.
Cleo comes to with Hel and Sarge hovering over her, concerned. Cleo tells them about the vision. Sarge is all for getting their gauntlets and getting out of there, but Hel wants to enlist their hosts as allies against the Baileys. Sarge leaves to find the sub so they can send a message to Mauser. Hel goes to talk to Granger, asking if they can form an alliance. Granger says his people don't want an alliance, but that he had helped them come to his world so that his brother and the others would change their minds about wanting to remain isolated. Hel says she thinks he sent the distress call, but he doesn't confirm or deny.
Cleo hears her mother's voice again calling to her, asking for help. Cleo goes off into the complex in search of her mother.
Sarge finds their gauntlets, but has to knock some guards out to get them. She and Hel then go to look for Cleo, who is still following the voice. It leads her to a room where what appears to be a Bailey is looking down at her. Sarge and Hel arrive to hear Cleo calling out to her mother. Sarge: "I've never met Cleo's mom, but I'm guessing she's not a Bailey." The Bailey emits a snake-like beam of red light that encircles Cleo. Cleo's mom's face appears in the "eye" of the Bailey and says, "You found me, Sweetie." Hel screams Cleo's name.
