This synopsis is by Sally Dye .

A ship is sailing the tropical waters. The sailors are watching some dancing girls. One of the sailors asks the captain, Standish, if he doesn't want to join them. He is more concerned with keeping watch because there have been strange goings on in these waters. A lookout spots a strange shape approaching the ship. There is a crash, and the ship explodes.

The next morning, Croque, Jack and Emilia are on the beach, saddened at the news of another shipwreck. It turns out Croque is sad because he had some valuable cargo on the ship. Emilia says the loss of life is more important, and tells Jack they should get to the bottom of these mysterious wrecks.

Em and Jack launch Em's tiny homemade submarine to search for clues as to what is causing all the shipwrecks. Em suggests that maybe it's a giant squid. Jack thinks it's probably a sea monster. They hear organ music playing -- Em identifies it as Bach. Looking through the periscope, she suddenly sees another, much larger sub headed toward them with its "jaws" open.

Act I

Em realizes they must be inside the larger sub. They hide just as Captain Nardo enters their sub. He intends to eliminate whoever is piloting the little sub. Finding no one there, he orders his men back to the larger sub to search there. Em and Jack come out of their hiding place and hear singing. They recognize the voice as that of the pirate Blackbeard. They follow the voice and it leads them to the brig where Blackbeard is being held. Blackbeard: "Time for me conjugal visit, then, is it?" Em: "I'd rather backstroke through a pool of raw sewage, actually." Blackbeard thinks he recognizes them, but they convince him they are nightclub performers. Blackbeard says he was captured by Nardo and is now made to swab the decks. Em thinks Blackbeard may be helpful because he knows the layout of the ship. Jack is skeptical, but Em's scizzors beat his paper, so they break Blackbeard out and enlist his help.

Blackbeard guides them unerringly to where he can find some "hooch", and they are captured by Nardo and his men. Emilia protests when Nardo announces their imminent execution that they have not even been properly introduced. Nardo introduces himself as Captain Nardo da Vinci, great great great great grandson of Leonardo da Vinci. Nardo still plans to have them killed, until Jack begins to taunt him about not measuring up to his famous ancestor. To prove otherwise, Nardo shows them his plans for a "self-propelled underwater explosive" -- i.e. a torpedo. He plans to demonstrate it the next day on a ship which happens to be carrying all of America's founding fathers -- Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, et al. Jack remembers Blackbeard's ability to breathe fire after he drinks strong spirits and unleashes it on Nardo's men. Jack, Em and Blackbeard run into a nearby room and lock the door, but then seem to be trapped.

Act II

Emilia notes that the launching tube for the torpedo is in the room they're in. They climb into it one at a time and are shot out to the surface.

Back on land, Em proposes that they use her "new toy", a hot-air balloon, to defeat Nardo. They fly over the ship carrying the founding fathers and see the shadow of Nardo's sub under the water nearby. They drop an explosion onto the sub. It doesn't stop Nardo's sub, which begins firing torpedoes up at them. One of them pierces the basket of the balloon but doesn't detonate. The weight is pulling the balloon down, though, and they need fire to make the balloon rise. Blackbeard doesn't have any hooch, but plans to generate some fire out the other end, so to speak. Jack sees what is coming and he and Em grab a rope and jump out of the basket as Blackbeard produces enough fire to raise the balloon. Jack and Em are swinging on the rope. Jack says it beats Emilia's sub, and Blackbeard realizes where he knows them from -- the time they bored a hole in his ship to rescue Ben Franklin, whom Blackbeard was holding for ransom. Blackbeard tries to drop the torpedo on them, but Jack and Em swing back and forth so that the torpedo -- with Blackbeard clinging to it -- drops past them and onto Nardo's sub.

Jack and Em land the balloon. Em asks if Jack still believes in sea monsters, but Jack says it's unlucky to be superstitious.
