Bacchus | GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN (28/204)
Played by Anthony Ray Parker [who also played Pinullus in COMEDY
OF EROS] |
| The evil God of Wine. His
followers are Bacchae. These young, innocent women are
turned into vampire-like creatures, whose only allegiance is
to Bacchus. (On an aesthetic note, Bacchus looks an awful
lot like the creature from the film Legend.)
Bacchus can only be killed by a Bacchae, who must use a
Dryad bone for the weapon. [SR]
The god of wine, Bacchus, who looks like the devil
incarnate, has stopped Orpheus from playing his lyre in the
Bacchae forest by separating his head from his body. This
allows his Bacchae to capture more young women from a
village for his lair. Xena sets out to rescue the women, and
it turns out that she and Bacchus are bitter enemies. Later,
when Gabrielle is captured and turned into a Bacchae, Xena
is forced to confront Bacchus to save Gabrielle. Bacchus
wants Xena more than anything else to become one of his
Bacchae, so he says he can be killed only by a Bacchae. Xena
allows Gabrielle to bite her and turn her into a Bacchae,
then she destroys his physical form by stabbing him with a
dryad bone. But being a god and an immortal, he is not
really killed, and he just laughs at Xena after she and
Gabrielle have rescued the women. [ND] |
