INSIDE THE HEAD OF TIM OMUNDSON
Introduction
[01] Xenite's know this man as Eli, but there is so much more to him -- like gorgeous eyes, sexy hands, and an awesome voice, and boy, can he act! His new hit series Judging Amy is a huge success, and he's a new father. We both have an admiration for Ms. Tyne Daily and even now he's a humble actor. Needless to say, the man is extremely busy these days. I'm truly honored he took time out to chat with me.
Tim Omundson's Head
Interviewer:
[02] Why did you start acting?Tim Omundson:
[03] The official answer would be: to make people happy and share my gift with the world. The real answer would be: to get attention. And the fact that it was one of the only things I was good at, at a young age, which made me feel special.Interviewer:
[04] If you had to do it all over, would you be an actor?Tim Omundson:
[05] Absolutely.Interviewer:
[06] Give us a brief day in the life of Tim.Tim Omundson:
[07] It's the same as everyone else's. Get up, take care of the family, baby, wife, dogs, pay bills, or not, work or try to get it, get behind on returning my email, try to have some fun of some kind, look for work, look for work, look for work, which is also looking for the thing I love to do, so that's lucky.Interviewer:
[08] Can working on SciFi be a death wish on a career?Tim Omundson:
[09] It hasn't killed mine yet, and it's been 10 years since Seaquest.Interviewer:
[10] Do you enjoy working on Judging Amy?Tim Omundson:
[11] I really do. I get to work with one of America's greatest actresses, Tyne Daily. She has won more Emmy's for drama then anyone else. Every day I get to work on that show is like going to school. She and I get a long wonderfully and our characters' relationship has really evolved over the 30 episodes to something great and unusual and fun. The crew and writers and staff have been very supportive to me and my family. It's almost all you could ask for, working with good, talented, fun people. Just like on Xena.Interviewer:
[12] Tell us about that role please.Tim Omundson:
[13] Sean Potter started out as the fresh out of school uber bean counter at the Hartford, Conn. Dept. of Children and Families. He is Tyne's boss and main source of job tension. However, he and they have evolved into something really nice, I think. Much like my relationship with Ms. Daily, which has gotten much closer and looser and fun off-screen. That looseness is then reflected in our onscreen relationship.Interviewer:
[14] What do you like most about Conventions?Tim Omundson:
[15] Meeting the people who are most affected by and appreciative of the work I do.Interviewer:
[16] What do you like least?Tim Omundson:
[17] Having to rush through autographs.Interviewer:
[18] How do you handle stress?Tim Omundson:
[19] Not always well. My wife is immensely supportive, and I have some wonderful friends who are often going through similar c--p. A little bourbon now and then doesn't hurt either.Interviewer:
[20] At times, do you want to grab and fan by the shoulders and explain the difference between you and the character you play?Tim Omundson:
[21] No. I think they all get it. And those few who don't, don't need me pulling them out of what makes them happy.Interviewer:
[22] Why do you think some fans have a hard time telling the difference between the two?Tim Omundson:
[23] I may like to think I'm God's gift to the Earth at times, but I don't think anyone else does.Interviewer:
[24] Do fans expect too much from stars?Tim Omundson:
[25] Sometimes. Simply putting someone into the category of 'star' is too much. I mean what the h--l is that anyway? I do think it's not too much to ask that someone in the public eye, who your kids watch and look up to, behave well in public, at a public event. At home or out under the radar, that's up to them. But don't stand on the bar in a crowded room and scream at people to stop looking at you.Interviewer:
[26] Do fans matter?Tim Omundson:
[27] Without them, we wouldn't exist. And I certainly wouldn't be answering your questions because who would give a rat's a-s what I think about anything?Interviewer:
[28] How does a celebrity stay grounded without letting all the glitz and glamour get to them?Tim Omundson:
[29] Family and sane friends.Interviewer:
[30] What is your footwear of choice?Tim Omundson:
[31] I like a nice high heel as much as the next guy.Interviewer:
[32] What opportunity are you most happy you seized?Tim Omundson:
[33] Asking Allison to marry me.Interviewer:
[34] What do you think of Shakespeare's work?Tim Omundson:
[35] For a long time that was all I did. I loved it, but I've become a better actor since it stopped.Interviewer:
[36] Is the glass half full or half empty?Tim Omundson:
[37] Forget the glass, go straight to the bottle.Interviewer:
[38] What are your feelings on the events of September 11th?Tim Omundson:
[39] Who really cares what I think?Interviewer:
[40] Years from now, how would you want to be remembered?Tim Omundson:
[41] Just remembered, period, would be nice.Interviewer:
[42] What is your pet peeve?Tim Omundson:
[43] Children singing on T.V.Interviewer:
[44] Who is Tim?Tim Omundson:
[45] Ask me in another 32 years and maybe I'll have an answer for you.Interviewer:
[46] Is there a special moment with Kevin you can share with us?Tim Omundson:
[47] The best thing to come out of Xena was the friends I made and the relationships that continue today. Kev and my wife and I had become good friends since the end of the show. His death was one of the saddest things to ever happen in my life. He was a shining light. A shining light. And I'm angry he will never get to meet my daughter, and we'll never get to share a drink again. But my life is better having had him in it.Interviewer:
[48] What is the most sensitive part on your body?Tim Omundson:
[49] My ego (I think I stole that from Claire, but it's true).Interviewer:
[50] What housework chore do you most detest?Tim Omundson:
[51] Cleaning off my desk.Interviewer:
[52] What do you do on those days when you want to give up?Tim Omundson:
[53] It's never gotten to that point.Interviewer:
[54] Do you want to move on to writing and producing? Or have you? Explain please.Tim Omundson:
[55] No. I'm still completely challenged by acting.Interviewer:
[56] What do you see yourself doing in the future? Future projects?Tim Omundson:
[57] I have no idea, that's the fun and the scary part of this life. All plans are meaningless.Interviewer:
[58] How do you handle depression?Tim Omundson:
[59] Again, not always well. I like to wallow for a few days, then I'm reminded, usually by my wife of how f-----g good I have it and I can pop out of it.Interviewer:
[60] What advice can you give to future actors?Tim Omundson:
[61] If you can do anything else and be happy, do it because this is a very, very hard life at times. But then again, show me a life that's not hard.Interviewer:
[62] Any plans on releasing an album?Tim Omundson:
[63] Merciful God, no.Interviewer:
[64] Any theater work?Tim Omundson:
[65] Whenever I can afford it.Interviewer:
[66] What does the word 'family' mean to you?Tim Omundson:
[67] Those who put up with my endless petty ego s--t and still love me.Interviewer:
[68] What does the word 'friend' mean to you?Tim Omundson:
[69] Same as above but they don't have to up with it quite as often.Interviewer:
[70] What are your favorite kinds of movies? Horror, comedy, romance?Tim Omundson:
[71] The ones with a good story to tell.Interviewer:
[72] Have you worked on something that made you ask, 'Why Am I Doing This?'Tim Omundson:
[73] No. Every job has something to teach you, from how to be more patient to how to be a better actor. The trick is to find the lesson.Interviewer:
[74] Whom do you trust?Tim Omundson:
[75] Allison (Wife).Interviewer:
[76] If you are/were a parent, what is the greatest wish you have for your child?Tim Omundson:
[77] Having just become one 15 days ago, I would have to say, that she knows how much she is loved. I think it's the root of all happiness. Everything else will work itself out in time.Interviewer:
[78] What would you say every actor needs?Tim Omundson:
[79] Courage and character and ego and humility.Interviewer:
[80] What makes your best friend you best friend?Tim Omundson:
[81] Trust.Interviewer:
[82] What theme would you like to tackle in your next work?Tim Omundson:
[83] The gray area between right and wrong.Interviewer:
[84] What was the last thing that made you smile recently?Tim Omundson:
[85] Lily burping.Interviewer:

[105] Not making the easy choice, it's usually the most boring.Interviewer:
[106] Does the best acting flow for you, or does it come from retakes?Tim Omundson:
[107] It all depends. Most of the great film performances are made up of bits and specks of truth edited together.Interviewer:
[108] Which part of acting do you enjoy most and why?Tim Omundson:
