Many Unanswered Questions

Subject: Many Unanswered Questions

I am not as surprised as Anonymous at the failure of Xena and Gabrielle to seek out Salmoneus when they awaken from the 25-year sleep. He was never close to them, the way Joxer was. He turned up in their adventures, then was gone. I don't think it would ever have occurred to them to seek him out.

Autolycus is last seen in HTLJ's ep OUTCASTS, TRAMPS AND THIEVES. It seems he will rejoin his wife, and maybe go into banking. He is not likely to have been seen by them as a help against the gods, or later in season 6's adventures.

Herc probably took it on the lam after GOD FEARING CHILD. Without Zeus to look after him, and his only supporter in Olympus being Aphrodite, he's a goner unless he disappears. My guess is Eire, with Morrigan. Xena and Gab can deduce, from silence about him and Iolaus, that he is out of the equation.

What's the mystery about Eve? She's off preaching, and in a time before regular mail and post office must expect a long time of non-communication. She can only hope.

Xena DVD Season 3

I've ordered my Third Season DVDs and am incredibly impressed about Kym's interviews about Sacrifice I and II! And I especially want to "see Kym get excited with Rick Jacobson". My favorite season on DVD with special interviews, what could be better?

Congratulations, Kym, on the Season 3 DVD Sacrifice Retrospective!

What a great extra, especially from a fan perspective, to see you discuss Sacrifice I and II with those that 'caused' it to become. I remember when the episodes first came out and the discussions and letters they inspired all over fandom and Whoosh. Every day after the episode, I would refresh Whoosh to see what new information might be gleaned as to what had happened to Gabrielle.

To get to see you asking the questions we all wanted to ask, to interact with those responsible and have such a respect for the show, made me very happy. That it evoked all those strong emotions even after all this time is a testament to how well this series was done.

Now, a question for YOU.

How did you get involved in this retrospective and did they answer all the questions you wished?

I still want to know who really saved Gabrielle from the pit. (Ares? hmm..doesn't really work for me but I am just a viewer)

You did a great job. Thanks, Kym

p.s. I loved all the interviews of the episodes, especially when they talked about the whoosh sound and even brought up your esteemed website..

Whoosh published a bad review of the Season II DVD set and Panzer Davis asked me to consult on the DVD sets to put my money where my mouth was. I agreed. After working on the interview questions, they asked me to help plan out the content layout and to help produce an extra for the set.

I interviewed each person in the feature for up to an hour! There were tons of things that did not make it into the video.

Just a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate your efforts to get Anchor Bay to include all the extra's on the season 3 DVD's. Your efforts on behalf of all Xena fans is a great BIG THANK YOU.

I understand through Merwolf Pack that you had some input into the extras on the Season 3 DVD. All I can say is THANK YOU. The variety of people interviewed, the number of commentaries and the overall production values all combine to make this by far the best set of extras I've seen in a television show box set.

Now I'm really looking forward to Season 4's release. Hopefully it will have even more episodes with commentary. It's my theory that you can never have too much of that...

Again, thanks for getting a fan's point of view to the producers of these DVD's. You can really tell these were for the fans. And it is greatly appreciated.

p.s. - I really enjoy Whoosh. Thanks for keeping it alive and keep up the good work!

Kiwi Movie Needs Support

Subject: A way to help Xena actors

My name's Mark Prebble and I've recently made an independent feature film that features performances by 3 actors who had prominent guest roles in either Xena or Hercules. I'd like your help to publicise it to Xena fans. The actors involved are:

Michelle Ang - Akemi from Xena - "A Friend in Need, parts 1 and 2" (episodes # 6.21 and 6.22)
Alistair Browning - King Melos from Xena - "If the Shoe Fits..." (episode # 4.12), Bronagh from Hercules - "Darkness Rising" (episode # 5.8), "Render Unto Caesar" (episode # 5.5) and "Resurrection" (episode # 5.3)
Christopher Brougham - Warlock/Janus from "Hercules and the Circle of Fire", Lethan from "Hercules and the Amazon Women"

I've put a website together for the film. The url is: http://www.makemarksmovie.com

It is to raise publicity and money for the film because we couldn't get funding and need more cash to finish it. People can contribute money online and get their name in the end credits, and help out in many other ways.

This is something that Hercules and Xena fans could really get into. I want to get the word out to them and need your help. I'm sure you know how to reach the fans much more effectively then I ever could. Any help you can give is hugely beneficial. Please e-mail anyone you think will be interested in the site and the film.

This is a chance to be directly involved in the film and to make sure it reaches an audience. The sooner we get this happening, the sooner the film will be finished and released. Say whatever you want about the site, or if you'd prefer I've included below a template e-mail I'm sending out.

thanks heaps
Mark Prebble

Hi, my name's Mark Prebble. I'm a 27 year-old New Zealand filmmaker and I've recently made my first feature film, Futile Attraction, but I need your help to finish it.

Gaining funding for independent films is incredibly hard. I've decided to go directly to the largest and most generous source of financial support in the world - the general public.

I need to raise US$16,500 (NZ$25,000) and as much publicity as possible. I've put a website together which has detailed information about the film and the people involved. It also allows you to make online contributions and lists other ways you can help.

The url is: http://www.makemarksmovie.com

If you help, I am offering the opportunity to be officially involved and credited in the completed film. Credits range from "Thanks to" to "Executive Producer" depending on the contribution size.

Futile Attraction is a comedy which features Michelle Ang (Neighbours, Xena, The Tribe) in her first feature film role, Alistair Browning (Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Veritcal Limit, Rain, Hercules, Xena) and a host of up and coming New Zealand talent.

Check it out. Spread the word. Please forward this e-mail to anyone you think will be interested. Some of you will receive this e-mail multiple times from different helpful people. I apologise in advance, it is the nature of internet publicity. Please receive it in the spirit with which it was sent.

Thanks
Mark Prebble

Call to Xena Fan Fiction Authors

Subject: question

I was an avid Xena fan, and followed that series to the ( bitter ) end. I could always count on your site for any and all the information I needed.

Once my show had reached its end, I no longer had a "favorite" television show until recently. I am now as close as I've been to a show I loved as much as Xena, with " Law and Order:SVU . There are a " few " fan fic stories out there, ( I've read them all ) that involve my two favorite characters from the show, it's the pairing of Det. Olivia Benson, and ADA Alex Cabot.

I thought how great it would be if some of my Xenite fan fic writers were to write stories for this couple/this show. You guys never let me down!!!!

Do you know of any sites/writers that have done any of this fan fic???? Please if not, the encourage this!
