SYNOPSIS

Ryan puts pressure on Bianca to 'fess up what is going on about Kendall being pregnant by Michael; Lena interrupts Ryan and Bianca and makes Ryan leave but only after Lena hears Ryan say that Kendall is carrying Michael's child; Lena brings Bianca some pastries and then tries to leave but Bianca asks her to stay; they chat aout Kendall's motives and Lena says that she is okay with whatever Kendall decides just as she was about Bianca; Bianca is surprised to hear that Lena would have supported her if she had kept the baby; instead of 'fessing to Lena, Bianca only asks Lena to support Kendall during Kendall's preganancy, which Lena believes to be real

[Ryan] thinks Kendall made up this whole baby story just to protect Bianca, because she doesn’t want anybody to know she’s pregnant with Michael’s child. Ryan persists, asking if she went through with the termination, or is that sonogram hers? Upset, Bianca tells him to get out of here, to just drop this! Lena comes through the open door as Bianca tells Ryan all he needs to know is that she is not carrying Michael’s baby, and demands, “What the h*** are you doing to Bianca?” Bianca insists she can handle this, but Lena asks why she should have to? When she was arrested for trying to poison Michael, he helped her out a lot and she’s very grateful, but she cannot allow him to use these Gestapo tactics on Bianca; she’s throwing him out, and if that means losing his support, she’s sure Kendall’s offer still stands. Ryan asks if he’s now the bad guy, and Kendall, who let her rot in prison until Michael’s time of death set her free, is her new best friend? Lena looks at Bianca as Ryan says Kendall’s claiming to be pregnant with Michael’s child and, based on his time of death, that’s impossible. He leaves, telling Bianca he’s really sorry this didn’t go better. “Kendall pregnant with Michael’s child?” Lena repeats, “No wonder you’re so upset!” She sets out the pastries she brought and starts to leave, but Bianca asks her to stay for a while. Lena asks if it’s true that Kendall is pregnant with Michael’s baby? She’s in shock, “Two sisters made pregnant by the same vile man! You chose to terminate, but I guess Kendall’s going for the money.” When she asks if she hates her for that, Bianca replies that she couldn’t hate Kendall, and doesn’t think she’s doing it for the money, “Maybe she loves her baby.” She asks if that changes the way Lena feels about her? Lena says no, Kendall made the choice that was right for her, just as Bianca did, and she wouldn’t have felt any differently if Bianca had kept Michael’s baby. Bianca asks if she really means that? Lena asks who she is to judge anyone, “And besides, at the end of the day, babies are all about love.” Bianca asks, “So you wouldn’t have cared if I had decided to take Michael’s baby to term and raise it as my own?” Lena agrees, whatever decision she had made, she would have supported Bianca with all her heart. When she sees Bianca is upset and asks how she can help her, Bianca asks her to stand by Kendall when the whole town turns against her. Lena takes her hand as she says she will stand by Kendall; she, Bianca and Maggie will all protect her. Bianca thinks Kendall is lucky to have a friend like her; she agrees there’ll be a massive fallout with Erica, and hopes they can deal with it when the time comes. Lena thinks Bianca is the bravest woman she’s ever known. Bianca thanks her, and Lena leaves. Bianca hesitates just a moment before grabbing her coat and hurrying out.

The Set-Up – At Adam’s, J.R. stomps his feet twice and really means it this time.

In his room, Jamie fills Mary Polanski’s breakfast tray.

At Portia’s, Ryan knows Bianca’s secret and swears he’s going to keep it. No word yet on which of her many secrets he claims to know.


Jamie’s Room – Mary hopes waking Jamie will be a sin and one good enough to get her banned from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as soon as possible.


Kendall’s Condo – Erica stops by on a mission from St. Mona and offers her support to Kendall – but before the walls start bleeding and weeping in sympathy ‘cause she just got her nails done.

Erica wants Kendall to "back away from the lie" before it destroys her and any chance at being welcomed in the mechanical and randomly retreating arms of the Kane Clan; to prove her good intentions, Erica drops St. Mona’s pearls into Kendall’s hand and chomps on them to prove they’re real.

Erica: "What about your sister’s life, have you thought about that? Have you thought about that? Have you thought about what this lie, this obscenity, will do to her? Because she really was impregnated by that rapist and she chose to terminate the pregnancy because she couldn’t bare to even think about carrying that man’s child."

Yeah, blah, the injustice of it all is that Kendall will once again be kicked to the curb because all she cares about is protecting her half-witted sister, but what really depresses me is that what Erica’s just said is the show we have been watching since July. July. Where’s a meat hook with my name on it?


Portia’s Studio – Ryan’s still there to say what he could have in six words: "Kendall is not pregnant, you are," but needs 5 scenes to get out. In the process, he keeps on trying to push the door open while Bianca tries to slam it on his face. What about the flashbacks? It’s a door! Like that night! With Michael! The handle! It jammed! The door! What, is Bianca over the rape already? Ryan’s a b****** and I hope something heavy falls on his head as soon as he steps out the door: way to show compassion for someone you know suffered a huge trauma, you Nimrod.

Lena walks in and tells Ryan to leave Bianca "the h*** alone."

Oh, thank god, but – what the h*** are you wearing? Are you hiding Maggie under that coat or are you selling hot watches on the side?


B.J.’s – Brooke thinks Babe is "an invitation to an all-night diner," but I think she really means that’s Babe’s an open door to Motel 8.


Jamie’s Room – NotAnneBancroft!Mary puts the etchings on Jamie and promises to map all the particulars "nice and slow" so he won’t miss anything. While her hands roam his chest, she declares that, after many, many years of experience, she can tell a Greek Adonis from Archimedes and Jamie falls into the first category.

Well, he does after a night of binge drinking while Mary’s eyesight is on the fritz.


Portia’s Studio – Lena’s grateful to Ryan for having helped her, but won’t stand for him and his "Gestapo tactics."

Ryan: "What Gestapo tactics? I’m just trying to get some information."

Yeah.  Ryan?  Himmler just called from h*** and said he wants his helmet back.


Kendall’s Condo – The pre- non-wedding moments of Kane Women Bonding were the best 15 seconds of Kendall’s life; Erica knows that, so she offers her the same trust fund that Bianca has plus a posh position at Enchantment.

Oh, so Bianca has a trust fund and is set for life?  'Cause with all the "VolderBaby will make you rich, rich!" crap and the studio apartment, I had almost forgotten Bianca's loaded.  Feh.


Erica: "You will have money, you will have position, and you will have a family to come home to: now what more could you possibly want?"

Oh, Erica: have you learned nothing from your own histrionics? It’s all about Bianca, remember? Bianca, Bianca, Bianca! For Kendall, it’s all about the SisHoYay and, if she has to lie her way to the tenth circle of hell to get it while chewing on glass and walking on nails, she will do it, damn it!

Kendall refuses Erica’s deal – because she "hand[s] out forgiveness only on [her] terms."

That’s why Kendall can lie so well about this f****d-up plan: Erica’s love is always conditional and Bianca’s is not. Well, unless it involves Lena, in which case it’s conditional, checkered, ready-to-wear and dangled like a carrot.


Portia’s Studio – Lena hands Bianca some pain au chocolat for her and Maggie and tries to leave, but Bianca runs out of the kitchen to stop her – because there’s nothing more attractive to the Kane women than a lover who says "I love you, but let’s be friends."

Pain au chocolat, huh?  Last week it was milk chocolate with peanuts, today pain au chocolat: next thing you know, the chocolate will be melted and AMC will go off the air.

Lena takes off her coat and – did that shirt lose its sleeves? What’s next, a wife beater? Jesus. Please re-SORAS Lena and give her real clothes to wear. De-SORAS-ed Lena is older than Bianca and that’s fine! Lena with three shirts and inline skates under her arms while on her way to the Pine Valley Ocean Boardwalk doesn’t make her younger: it makes her Maggie.

Lena: "Two sisters made pregnant by the same vile man. You chose to terminate, but I guess Kendall is going for the money: do you hate her for that?"
Bianca: "I couldn’t hate Kendall. Anyway, I don’t think she’s doing it for the money: maybe she loves her baby."

Oh – so this is a conversation about Kendall that’s not about Kendall at all: please excuse me while I go sing Three Little Fishies.

Bianca: "Does that change the way you feel about her?"
Lena: "No. Kendall’s made the choice that’s right for her just as you did. I mean, I wouldn’t have felt any differently if you had kept Michael’s baby."

Yeah, you’re going to have to repeat that, write a book about it and sell the rights so a movie can be made and Bianca, who’ll be feeding VolderTot as Maggie holds the bottle up, will have almost definitive proof that you mean it.

Bianca: "So, you wouldn’t have cared if I had decided to take Michael’s baby to term and raised it as my own?"
Lena: "Bianca, only you know what you lived through and what it is that you need to do to feel safe again in this world. Whatever decision you’d made, I would have supported it with all my heart: I thought you knew that."

You know that Bianca's all about the tangible! "She loves me so much that she did A, B and C." "She loves me so much that she tried to kill Michael to protect me." Blah, blah, blah. And now she gets the "I love you so much that, had you decided to keep VolderBaby, I'd have loved it and bought it a crib! Because babies are all about love! And tiny socks!" Oh, sure, go ahead and spit on another perfectly good opportunity to tell Lena that you are the one who’s pregnant. What else does Lena need to do to prove that everything you do, as retarded as it is, is just perfect, perfect! in her eyes, write a blood oath and sign it in front of the Pope and the College of Cardinals? That might get her lynched, too: would that do?


The Last Scenes – At B.J.’s, Babe – in a wrap-around diaper over her jeans - shares some news with Brooke, who has finally escaped that insipid "where’s Jamie?" story line just to be thrown into the scalding hot oil of more hellish crap.

At Adam’s, something happens, but I’m distracted by Mary’s crab walk: has anyone else noticed that she walks left to right and vice versa, but never in a straight line?

At Portia’s studio, Lena promises Bianca that she’ll stand by Kendall, then wonders how Erica will react to the news.

Bianca: "I hope that we can deal with it when the time comes."
Lena: "You will."

Bwah! Smack down that plural, Lena, ‘cause you’re just friends no matter what that ring says!

At the cemetery, Erica steals Celine Dion’s TitanicMyHeartWillGoOn sun and wind fans and, in front of St. Mona of Assisi’s grave, vows to stop Kendall.


TOMORROW ON ALL MY CHILDREN: Ryan thinks he and Kendall could love each other again; Reggie and Jamie talk about Babe; Babe has news.

Nobody works in Pine Valley except Boyd (that's why we never see him), Lena, Simone (when her libido is down), and the Chandlers' maid. Everyone else has a job or goes to school, but they're on a perpetual lunch break or they've left the office to confront somebody or resolve yet another personal crisis.

I guess I should include the cops and Tarzan the Assistant DA under the "working" category, but I suspect they are only pretending to be working in order to hide some ulterior motives.

Lena apparently works the graveyard shift at Hart International. She leaves Bianca to go to work and Bianca grabs her coat and goes out...and the next episode we find out it's the MIDDLE OF THE FREAKIN' NIGHT, because she's with Aidan as they drag the river for evidence IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKIN' NIGHT. This soap opera is especially peculiar.

Lena: Two sisters made pregnant by the same vile man. You chose to terminate, but I guess Kendall's going for the money. Do you hate her for that?
Bianca: I couldn't hate Kendall. And I don't think that she's doing it for the money. Maybe she loves her baby.
Lena: Yeah, maybe.
Bianca: Does that change the way you feel about her?
Lena: No. Kendall made the choice that's right for her, just as you did. I mean, I wouldn't have felt any differently if you had kept Michael's baby.
Bianca: Do you really mean that?
Lena: Bianca, who am I judge anyone? Anyway, at the end of the day, babies are all about love.
Bianca: So you wouldn't have cared if I had decided to take Michael's baby to term and raise it as my own?

Lena: Oh, my god. Erica -- what will this do to her, knowing about Kendall and that you support her decision to keep the baby?
Bianca: I know. It's going to be a massive fallout, but I hope that we can deal with it when the time comes.
Lena: You will, because, you know, you're the bravest woman that i've ever known. Ok, this is really time for me to go to work. Thanks for the juice.
Bianca: Oh, of course. Lena, thank you.
