TV GUIDE PROMO

Nigel and Sydney are called in to investigate a man bludgeoned to death with what turns out to be a relic: the Cross of Arthur. Winston Hubbard has been seeking the Cross, and the dead man's wife, Sarah Glover, believes he killed her husband. Sydney and Nigel eventually track the Cross through a cryptic series of clues, only to find out that Hubbard's nurse and Sarah herself arranged Sarah's husband's death, shared an affair with Hubbard's handyman, and framed Hubbard. Sarah kills the handyman and forces an alliance with the nurse, Emma. Nigel and Sydney put a stop to them both and recover the Cross. TVTome.com

COMMENTARY

This commentary is by Beboman.

This was a pretty good whodunit episode in which Sydney and Nigel are more than just relic hunters, they are amateur detectives for Scotland Yard. If they find out who killed Anthony Glover, they will find the cross of King Arthur because Anthony Glover was killed by the cross.

As in any good detective story, there is the logical suspect. In this case it is Winston Hubert, the maid, the wife, and the driver. No butler; oh well, the maid will do.

In the end, Sydney and Nigel find out that it was the wife, Sarah Glover, who killed him. She was jealous of the maid. She also killed Hubert's driver, her lover, who was having an affair with the maid.

She had this thing about men leaving her. She would rather kill them than have them leave her. Very interesting theory; not a very good one, but one way of getting over the fact of being dumped.

But the jealousies did not stop there. You see, Nigel is a bit jealous of Karen, their office administrator. She seems to have come a long way and has become very helpful, not only in the office, but at trying to protect Sydney, Nigel and the Ancient Studies Program.

I loved the way she stalled for time allowing Sydney time to get back and not lose the grant Lord Aberton was offering. Good move by Karen. It could be said that Karen saved the day.

This episode was interesting. It showed once again how well Sydney and Nigel work together, how in tune their expertise is.

This episode was very well written, with some good turns and twists in the plot. I like episodes like that. The directing and acting were very good.

This was a very enjoyable and interesting episode.
