THE HAIR COLOR DEBATE
From: Cami Crews ( tater@hub.ofthe.net)
Sent: Monday, September 16, 1996 11:38 PMHi,
I just read your Whoosh! article on Lucy Lawless' real hair color and thought you might want to see this. Check this URL on the net http://www.jetthead.com Check out the childhood pics of Lawless for her hair color before she took up acting.
--tater (Vegetables of the world unite!)EDITOR'S RESPONSE:
Thanks for writing. I did see those pictures before Whoosh #1 was released, but I didn't have time to revise the article.
It looks like Lucy was like my oldest sister. She started a very, very light brown that looked blond (and for all practical purposes was blond when she was in the sun or during summer), however as she got older, it darkened into a honey-brown. Those bits of gold I guess made it look very light in the sun. The grapes.gif show it in the sun, and the later one of her on the horse shows that it was growing out by then...the sun only brought out bits of the hair.
However, if Lucy Lawless wanted to call it blond, then I'd say heck, go with blond. But I found it interesting that she hasn't called herself blond yet even though she did have opportunities. The only time she mentioned it, she called it "fair", which is a term usually used outside of the US for either an unusually dark blonde or a light brown. Then there's the indirect quote where she mentioned blond as an alternative to her hair color.
If you'd like to discuss the blond issue, please feel free to do so. Again, thanks for reading WHOOSH!
Kym
MS. CREWS RESPONSE:

Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 1996 9:34 AMHi again,
My little brother was like that too. As a baby he was a very light, almost platinum blond, by his teens his hair was a color somewhere between dark blond and light brown. Around here that color is usually called 'dirty blond'. It tends to be a blond in the summer because of the sun, and a light brown in the winter. It looks to me like Lucy's hair is close to the same color as my brother's, so I would call it 'dirty blond'.

SNUBBED A CONTRIBUTOR?
From: Neil McIlvenny ( neilmc@frontiernet.net)
Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 1996 5:28 PMHi Kym!
In your "A Note from the Editor", you mention 6 of the 7 contributors to Issue #1, but you leave Rori Klion's contribution out *completely*:((( I was just curious as to whether that was intentional or maybe a mistake. Being the first issue, and since *all* the other's were mentioned there, it seems to me a slight "slight" on Rori...
Just a personal opinion...neil
EDITOR'S RESPONSE:
I also didn't mention the episode guide and the airing list etc. First, Rori's wasn't a substantive offering but a referential one; also, it was added at press time. Originally the introduction stated that there were new things arriving as I wrote. Eventually we cut out the other three articles, and put in Rori's piece. I will add a mention in the errata section.
Thank you for reading the page so carefully. I appreciate it. If you find anymore errors, please do not hesitate to bring them to our attention.
