INSIDE THE HEAD OF BEATA POZNIAK
Introduction
Beata Pozniak
[01] This actor is intriguing to me. She simply does it all. She has a strong acting career under her belt and is a strong activist for women's rights. She also has a new career as a mother.
Beata Pozniak's Head
Interviewer:
[02] Why did you start acting?Beata:
[03] A way to express yourself.Interviewer:
[04] If you had to do it all over, would you be an actor?Beata:
[05] Absolutely, yes.Interviewer:
[06] Give us a brief day in the life of Beata.Beata:
[07] Fresh squeezed juice, yoga, or a quick hike. Then I go to meetings or to the set. Evenings are with my family.Interviewer:
[08] Can working on Sci-Fi be a death wish on a career?Beata:
[09] It was a great thing that happen to me. I was fortunate to be cast as the first female President of the World (and how ironic that being cast in such a role had to be a Sci-Fi experience - makes you wonder when something like this could be a reality?)Interviewer:
[10] What do you like most about Conventions?Beata:
[11] Live interaction with fans.Interviewer:
[12] What do you like least?Beata:
[13] Getting to them.Interviewer:
[14] How do you handle stress?Beata:
[15] Yoga, hiking. I love sports: tennis, skiing, swimming, and skating. All sport activities relax me - brings a smile to my face.Interviewer:
[16] At times, do you want to grab a fan by the shoulders and explain the difference between you and the character you play?Beata:
[17] It is amusing that such confusion happens so often. I'll never forget when I was on Melrose Place playing Dr. Katya Petrova who was contemplating on marrying Matt Fielding - a gay character on the show. People would stop me on the streets asking "Are you REALLY going to marry Matt?"Interviewer:
[18] Do fans matter?Beata:
[19] Yes.Interviewer:
[20] How does a celebrity stay grounded without letting all the glitz and glamour get to them?Beata:
[21] Facing the sun in a lotus position and saying "Om".Interviewer:
[22] What is your footwear of choice?Beata:
[23] Sporty.Interviewer:
[24] What opportunity are you most happy you seized?Beata:
[25] As an actress? Playing Marina Oswald in Oliver Stone's JFK creating a historical character that is still alive. A big responsibility. It's not like someone offers you the part of CAtherine the Great and you create your own rendition. Marina and her family are going to see the movie.
Pozniak as Marina Oswald
[26] As a human rights activist? Passing a bill in the USA (H.J. Resolution 316) International Women's Day. http://www.womensday.org
Interviewer:
[27] What do you think of Shakespeare's work?Beata:
[28] Brilliant.Interviewer:
[29] Years from now, how would you want to be remembered?Beata:
[30] As a person that made a difference in people's lives.Interviewer:
[31] Who is Beata?Beata:
[32] I'm still finding out.Interviewer:
[33] What is the most sensitive part on your body?Beata:
[34] Navel.Interviewer:
[35] What housework chore do you most detest?Beata:
[36] Washing dishes.Interviewer:
[37] What do you do on those days when you want to give up?Beata:
[38] Go to the beach and look at the ocean.Interviewer:
[39] Do you want to move on to writing and producing? Or have you? Explain please.Beata:
[40] Sometime ago I created Theatre Discordia, a performance art company and directed numerous avant-garde theater projects. I come from a country that promoted experimental and traditional drama technique but censored creative freedom. Seeking a new voice for myself, and inspired by the 'discord' of the U.S., I founded Theatre Discordia for international writers and performers to experiment with performance art, poetry and theater. The shows typically combine dance, magic, visual projections , and spoken word. Evolving out of my experiments with theatre and performance art recently directed a short film Mnemosyne (film debut).Interviewer:
[41] What do you see yourself doing in the future? Future projects?Beata:
[42] One of my passions is art. I paint and sculpt. I'm creating a show on the history of women.Interviewer:
[43] How do you handle depression?Beata:
[44] I don't, it handles me.Interviewer:
[45] What advice can you give to future actors?Beata:
[46] Follow your bliss.Interviewer:
[47] What attracts you more to a mate? Looks, or a sense of humor?Beata:
[48] Both.Interviewer:
[49] What does the word 'family' mean to you?Beata:
[50] Everything.

[52] Serious thing.Interviewer:
[53] What are your favorite kinds of movies? Horror, comedy, romance?Beata:
[54] All... as long as it has a good story.Interviewer:
[55] Have you worked on something that made you ask, 'Why Am I Doing This?'Beata:
[56] Every project.Interviewer:
[57] What are your dreams? Hopes? Wishes?Beata:
[58] Many: be a mother - bring up a powerful human being that can make a difference in peoples lives. As a humanitarian - to create a permanent International Women's Day Center http://www.womensday.org. As an actress, create projects about extraordinary women, people being unstoppable and inspirational.Interviewer:
[59] If you are/were a parent, what is the greatest wish you have for your child?Beata:
[60] The world belongs to the brave. Go for it. Live and experience everything.Interviewer:
[61] The way the world is, are you afraid to bring a child into it?Beata:
[62] A few weeks ago I just became a parent. Gave birth to a baby boy.Interviewer:
[63] What would you say every actor needs?Beata:
[64] Passion and strength to never give up.Interviewer:
[65] Who would you say is the best person you have worked with?Beata:
[66] Oliver Stone, Gary Oldman.Interviewer:
[67] Who was the worst?Beata:
[68] In the theatre in Poland. Under the communist government we had censorship. No freedom of expression. Difficult times and people.Interviewer:

[75] What was the last thing that made you smile recently?Beata:
[76] Discovering that I do love almonds.Interviewer:
[77] How would you categorize your best acting?Beata:
[78] When it just flows. When it's spontaneous and not controlled. Just letting go...Interviewer:
[79] What, if anything, can stop you from acting?Beata:
[80] Nothing. You're born with it. It's simple: either you have it or you don't. All unexpected things that happen along the road is temporary and a growing experience - you still go back to acting no matter what. It's like a real love or drug.Interviewer:
[81] In your opinion, do you fit you astrological sign?Beata:
[82] I am a Taurus, but then I am a preemie and should have been a Gemini. So I have qualities from both. My rising is Pisces.Interviewer:
[83] What to you is the worst feeling in the world?Beata:

[92] I love the first take. It's fresh. But sometimes it's great to be able to go over and over a scene just like in the theatre.Interviewer:
[93] Which part of acting do you enjoy most and why?Beata:
[94] The process of finding your character. Surprising myself of what I can find.Interviewer:
[95] When someone walks into your bedroom, what are the first five things that they are likely to notice?Beata:
[96] Diapers, diapers and a smiling little face saying ga ga ga.Interviewer:
[97] Would the world be a better place if women ran it or would it be basically the same?Beata:
[98] I don't think it's about women versus men (although I think there isn't enough representation in the Senate, Congress etc). I do think, if women would have the power to lead rather then follow, people would feel more empowered, they wouldn't need guns.Interviewer:
[99] What is your favorite spot where you live now?Beata:
[100] In an area of Beverly Hills where you feel like living in a country/forest. In the morning deer come to your garden. Owls and coyotes at night.Interviewer:
