Six Degrees of Frodo: Lord of the Rings and Xena: Warrior Princess

Date: April 14, 2003
Subject: Lord of the RingsI read your post on Whoosh online edition. I could tell you were really into the Xena, genre, timeline, just as I am. I'm working on a series of books, or one large one, who knows.

Subject: letters to the Editor Lord of the RingsAndi Allen lists 20 Xena: Warrior Princess actors in Lord of the Rings. "[A]nd that does not include the number of Lord of the Ring extras that may have appeared on Xena/Hercules as well".
Andi, if your true will is to be such a total anorak dweeb, don’t write in until you have listed EVERYBODY!

Andi Allen responds:Thanks for passing on that rather odd and rude comment from the reader. Had there been a complete list of the hundreds of extras that worked on Lord of the Rings and Hercules/Xena, I would have done that research too. But since I located no such lists in all my searching to compile the crossover list (and I doubt any extra lists exist since production companies don't keep those stats), I had to go with only credited roles to create the list. Boy, what bizarre things some people will focus on to find fault with someone else's interest.
Davis-Panzer Xena: Warrior Princess Season One DVDs

Subject: issue 76 Daniel Starr's article D-P W:WP Season One DVDsI agree with Mr. Starr that the Davis-Panzer Xena: Warrior Princess season One DVDs are a disappointment. I think the seventh disc should have included bonuses similar to what one gets with motion picture and studio television series DVDs (trailers for upcoming episodes, deleted scenes, interviews and bloopers) rather than include information easily gleened from the Internet (or from whoosh.org).
I am concerned with the upcoming Anchor Bay DVDs. The Austrailian Xena Information Page ausxip.com has a link to a news release describing their April release http://hive4media.com/news/html/breaking_article.cfm?article_id=4508. This article states that Anchor Bay "signed a multi-year deal with Davis/Panzer".
I now wonder how different these new DVDs will be since we will still be purchasing via Davis-Panzer. The description of the bonus CD sounds similar to the bonus CD from the set released last December.
