FUNNY STORIES, XENA-RELATED OF COURSE!

All In Good Humor

[01] Since we first discovered the TV show Xena: Warrior Princess, we have had many Xena-related adventures together. Amazingly, Xena continues to bring humor in our everyday lives.

All Saints Day

[02] For being Catholics, we observe "All Souls Day" and "All Saints Day" every November of every year. At last year's mass we celebrated "All Saints Day" with the school children. During the homily, the parish priest was asking the children who the saints on the walls were. Glass-stained pictures of the saints adorned the church's walls. He pointed to one of the saints and asked, "Who is the saint with the staff and the scroll?" We looked at each other, giggled and said, "Gabrielle". It was St. Peter, of course. Even in church, our minds still think of Xena.

A Dog Named Xena

[03] Our aunt has a dog that she named Xena. She was aware of the TV show, but was not a fan. Our aunt said that she noticed that her Xena hates men and barks at them. She even bit the plumber because he provoked her. Xena is a small dog, but acts like a warrior.

[04] We hate that dog even though it was named after our favorite TV show. When we had our housewarming party, our aunt brought the dog along and assured us that it was already potty-trained. The moment they arrived and we showed them the house, the dog p**d in our office/computer room where all of our Xena stuff are kept. It was like she was marking her territory and we have carpet for flooring. All night long, all we did was follow that dog around and kept hearing the dog's Xena name being called much to our dismay.

Universal Studios

[05] Last year, we visited Universal Studios Hollywood. It was fun touring the upper and lower lots. There were so many things to see and do. We saw Hercules and Dracula. We observed them first before we had our pictures taken with them. You know how they are. They sometimes hug people and make passes at them. Of course, Dracula was acting his part and posing like he was about to take a bite off of your neck. Hercules, like his TV character, was a gentleman and he had his shiny, mighty sword.

[06] We could not seem to separate Hercules from Dracula. So we just decided to have our picture taken with me (Lourdes) standing on Hercules' left side and me (Virginia) in between Herc and Drac. Dracula asked me, "Where are you from?" and I (Virginia) said, "Originally, we are from the Philippines," he then said, "I will suck your blood" in Tagalog. It was so funny and very surprising! Then after the picture was taken, Dracula then realized that we were twins so he held on to me and said, "Twins! So, I can have one and you can have the other one, Hercules." We were laughing as we said, "No". Then as we were leaving, I (Virginia) asked Hercules, "Where is Xena?" He replied, "She is out pillaging a village" and Dracula added, "She is crazy." To which we quickly replied, "No, she is not."

Deborah Abbott

[07] Recently, we again visited Universal Studious Hollywood and brought along our Xena look-alike friend, Deborah Abbott. Guess who we saw? Xena and Gabrielle! We were all so excited. They were both wearing cloaks, Xena had a chakram and Gabrielle had a staff. Deborah had her picture taken with them first and as she approached Xena, Xena said to her, "I know why you want your picture taken with me?" Deborah asked why and Xena responded with, "Because you look like her." Little did she know that Deborah is a Xena lookalike, too, at Xena Conventions.

For a change, Deb Abbott is the only one in this picture who's NOT dressed up.

Lord of the Rings

[08] We have finally seen The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring on tape. We knew that it was three hours long and so we did not want to endure watching it in the theatre because we wanted to concentrate and to listen carefully to the dialogue since we have not read the books, we could not possibly know the back story and details. Besides, our 50-inch TV provided us with a big screen and so we had the theatre feel to it in the comfort of our own home. We were already aware that the movie was shot in New Zealand and what a perfect choice for Tolkien's Middle Earth - such stunning, picturesque, and breathtaking landscape.

[09] The movie's costume designer, Ngila Dickson, who used to work on Xena also provided the cast with magnificent wardrobe. The actors and extras that played characters on Xena also played major and minor roles. We could not help remembering which characters they played. The sword-wielding battles mirrored the ones on Xena. The story itself reminded us of The Ring Trilogy (THE RHEINGOLD, THE RING, and THE RETURN OF THE VALKYRIE). We could not help but think of Xena while watching the movie. We were expecting Xena and Gabrielle to appear and save the day.

Twin Xenas

[10] We visited a Halloween store in search of the elusive Xena Costume to add to our collection. We have been to several Halloween stores, but none had them in stock. Lo and behold, we found some at this humble store!

[11] We quickly checked for size. We found 2 small (adults) and 2 large (kids). Considering our petite size, we decided to buy the kids' size. The lady seller asked us if we were twins, to which we replied, "Yes". Then she quickly added, "Then you will be 'twin Xenas'!" We all laughed with her. Little did she know that we go by that name in the Xenaverse.

Music

[12] Music is food for the soul and we enjoy listening to it. Who doesn't? Soft rock, the oldies, and love songs appeal to us because they are easier on the ears. We really enjoy the music videos created by talented fans and those that are shown at conventions. Great tributes! It seems that every song that we hear brings back memories of Xena and Gabrielle that tugs at our hearts. Of all the wonderful things that happened in the adventures of Xena and Gabrielle together, we are always reminded of the finale. Lately this song by Josh Groban fills the emptiness we feel:

To Where You Are

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for a while to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for a while
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
Even though the show has already ended, Xena remains a part of our lives, a part of our hearts forever.

My twin sister is just three minutes older than I am, but I do not let her boss me around. We are both very shy, but somehow Xena gives us the courage to reach down inside ourselves and do things that we are not capable of.
