Erica hires Lena to work at Enchantment... Boyd catches Lena eavesdropping on Chris and Erica's argument.

From About All My Children
http://allmychildren.about.com/library/recaps/2003/bl20030115.htm

"Welcome to Enchantment, Lena!" Erica tells her newest employee, who replies that she's so thrilled to be working with her - it's her dream! Chris comes to the door, and Erica tells him that Lena is going to double their international sales! "It's too late for that," he replies grimly, "Enchantment is going under, Erica; by this time tomorrow, it'll be deader than Enron!" Erica tells Lena she has to forgive her fiancée's odd sense of humor, but Chris insists it's not a joke and tells Lena he's afraid she's back in the job market. Erica laughs as she tells Lena not to pay any attention to him at all; Enchantment is thriving! She sends the new hire down to Human Resources to get acclimated, and promises they'll have lunch in a couple of days when she's up to speed...

...Erica smiles as she says it's using all of her God-given assets for their advantage. Chris turns the tables, asking if he was interrogating some hot jet-setting European babe, like that Lena she just hired, and wasn't getting what he wanted, so he leans in in a very sexual way to get what he wants? Lena comes back from HR and listens outside as Chris concludes, "How would you feel about that, Erica?"

Boyd returns to Enchantment in time to find Lena listening at the boss's door. He conspiratorially asks if she heard anything good, and Lena insists she didn't want to interrupt. Boyd takes her by the arm as he says he doesn't believe that, "Let's see if Erica does." He starts for the door, but Lena cries, "No, wait!" Boyd states the obvious, that Erica doesn't like anyone spying on her. Lena insists she wasn't! Erica hired her and sent her to see Mr. Fisher who was too busy to show her around, and she didn't know where else to go! Boyd looks at the orientation package Lena was given, and notes that she must have been assigned an office. Lena tells him she was going to ask Erica, but she and Chris seem to have hit a rough patch. Boyd agrees that Erica has a temper, and Mr. Stamp can match her; his advice is to steer clear until the dust settles. "You mean I should stay away until she's in a better mood," Lena repeats, and Boyd laughs that that's a perfect translation. She thanks him for the advice, and asks if he works closely with Erica? They introduce themselves, and Boyd tells her that he's a chemist. She says he's in R & D, and Boyd tells her he heads it. Lena guesses he's the person who can get her the latest products in the line. Boyd smiles as he says if she treats him right, he'll see that her name is at the top of the list. Lena asks him to show her around, and thinks she's very lucky he has time to do so. "Maybe I'm the lucky one," he suggests as he takes her arm.

Erica has apparently hired Lena. She welcomes the Amazon aboard Enchantment. Well, Lena may not be all that tall, but compared to Erica she looks like she could swat at planes from the balcony of Erica’s penthouse. Erica is raving about Lena’s excellent references, but a grouchy-looking Chris arrives and starts spewing negativity about the future of the company.

Chris continues to insist that Enchantment is going under and suggests Lena keep job-searching. Erica sends Lena off to personnel...

Chris and Erica’s argument is even being used for new character exposition. We find out that Jordan is apparently the Ted Turner of Planet Pine Valley. He owns movie companies, cable channels, even a hockey team. Erica informs Chris that she knows he saw her with Jordan at the Valley Inn and realizes that he’s jealous. “Get over yourself,” replies Chris. *snerk* Like THAT will ever happen, but it’s still amusing to hear someone actually SAY that to Erica. Chris says that Erica flaunting herself to Jordan to get a job offer out of him makes her look cheap. Well, I think it’s the over-teased hair and the magic marker Erica uses for eyeliner that accomplishes that, but whatever. Chris asks how she’d like it if he was using his own sexuality on some hot exotic babe he was interrogating, citing Lena as an example. Erica’s eyes flash green. “You think she’s hot?” Chris gets all sultry-sounding as he moves closer to Erica, illustrating his point. Dude, you’re not sexy. Quit that. Outside the office, Lena creeps up to the door, eavesdropping.

As the argument inside Erica’s office still rages, Lena stands outside the door, doing a good job of looking like she’s politely waiting for the smoke to clear rather than eavesdropping. Boyd arrives and is suspicious of her hovering.

Lena explains that she’s new and was waiting to talk to Erica, but that she and Chris were busy with the noise polluting. Boyd advises her that with the tempers between those two, she’d be better off staying away until the radiation subsides. They exchange names and upon hearing that Boyd is the head of research and development, the score kicks in with its “up to no good” music as Lena purrs at Boyd, feigning interest in him because he’s Head Lipstick Boy. He begins to show her around the building.

LENAVERSE

Looks like Lena was zeroing in on Boyd and Boyd was zeroing in on Lena. No wonder he thought she wasn't gay so adamantly

Lena: Oh, I -- I -- I didn't know where to go. I didn't want to interrupt.

Boyd: Erica doesn't like anyone spying on her.

Boyd: Erica’s got a temper, and Mr. Stamp -- well, he can match her. If I were you, I’d steer clear until the dust settles.

Lena: So, you work closely with Erica? Mr. --
Boyd: Oh -- Boyd. Boyd Larraby.
Lena: Lena Kundera. So, what do you do for our company?
Boyd: I'm a chemist.
Lena: Oh, you're in R&D?
Boyd: Yeah. I head it.
Lena: Ah. So you're the one who can get me all the latest products in the line?
Boyd: Well, I'll tell you what-- you treat me right and I’ll make sure your name's at the top of my list. How's that?
Lena: Ok. Meantime, can you show me around?

[amc030115a starts]
Erica: Welcome to Enchantment, Lena.
Lena: I'm so thrilled to be working with you. It's my dream.
Erica: Senora Ortiz credits you with saving her company.
Lena: La Vida was not in so much trouble. She's too kind.
Erica: Well, I am just sure you are going to be a perfect fit here at Enchantment. Chris, Lena is going to double our international sales.
Chris: It's too late for that.
Erica: What?
Chris: Enchantment is going under, Erica. By this time tomorrow, it'll be deader than Enron.

***** (clip b) [Erica tells Lena not to pay attention to Chris]

[amc030115b starts]
Erica: Lena, you have to forgive my fiancé’s odd sense of humor.
Chris: Erica, this is not a joke. I wish it were. I'm afraid you're back in the job market, Ms. --
Lena: Call me Lena.
Chris: Lena.
Erica: Lena, please don't pay any attention to him at all. Really, Enchantment is thriving. Why don't you go on and drop in on Marty Fisher in Human Resources, and he will get you all acclimated. And then you and I will have lunch in a couple of days when you're all up to speed.
Lena: Thank you.
Erica: Ok.
Chris: Good luck...
[Lena leaves]

***** (clip c) [Chris uses Lena as an example to Erica (Lena mention)]

Chris: I'm not angry at Jordan, Erica! I'm mad at you! Don't you get that? I have a career! I've invested 20 years of my life into it, and I like it!
Erica: But he's offering you something better.
Chris: What? What is he offering me? Hiring some muscle boys to escort moguls to movie premieres? Boy, now, there's a real challenge for you.
Erica: No, it's much more than that.
Chris: You know, I can see, you know, he presents this job opportunity to you through this haze of smoldering looks and hand-kissing and flattery.
Erica: It doesn't mean I didn't make a good deal for you.
Chris: It cheapens you.
Erica: Using all my God-given assets for our advantage? Come on, don't be ridiculous.
Chris: Let's -- let's just say that I'm interrogating some hot jet-setting European babe, hot -- like that girl Lena you just hired.
Erica: You think she's hot?
Chris: And I'm not getting what I need. So I kind of move in, leaning in a very sexual way, to get what I want. Hmm? How would you feel about that, Erica?

***** (clip d) [Boyd finds Lena listening at Erica's office door]

[amc030115d starts]
Erica: [off camera] Even if it were like some a male version of Mata Hari, I would not doubt your love for me.
Chris: [off camera] Maybe. But that poor girl if she had a deal with you, she'd be begging to be deported.
Boyd: Hear anything good?
Lena: Oh, I -- I -- I didn't know where to go. I didn't want to interrupt.
Boyd: Hmm -- no, I don't believe that. Let's see if Erica does.
Lena: No, wait.

***** (clip e) [Lena flirts with Boyd and asks him to show her around]

Boyd: Well, you must have been assigned an office.

Lena: Well, thank you for the advice.
