HECKA HALLOWEEN, PARTY PEOPLE! Laura Sue has some news that is SO BIG, that she couldn't wait until a normal publish date to tell ya!

CHECK BELOW FOR THE SCOOP, plus some timely Halloween News on our favorite Pre-Mycenaean Chicks!

NEWS!

STOP THE PRESSES!!! NEWS, GOSSIP RUMOR has gotten wind of some GLORIOUS NEWS!!! KUDOS to the Gabfans out there who made this happen! (you KNOW who you are!)

HOT NEWS!!! ALA GAB POSTER/BOOKMARKS. GUESS WHAT I FOUND IN MY MAILBOX THIS MORNING? (Western Graphics, are you listening?)

Dear Laura Sue:

Your enthusiasm for our Gabrielle product was a joy to experience. We will be considering Gabrielle bookmarks for our spring product release, which means the product would be available April 1.

THOUGH I AM CONVINCED, EVEN AT THIS EARLY STAGE, THAT THERE WOULD BE SUFFICIENT DEMAND FOR THE GABRIELLE BOOKMARK, we continually evaluate the viability of different product types, and we just happen to be considering the bookmark format right now.

So, keep us in mind and spread the word about the poster and check in with me mid-February cause I'll know by then if the bookmark will be a sure thing.

[NOTE: HERE IS THE BIG NEWS, KIDS!!]

Though we do not release sales statistics, I would say we are pleasantly surprised at the apparent popularity of the Gabrielle poster product, and that to date, (with only two weeks of sales data in) it's the best-selling of the new fall product.

Thank you.

Kathy A. Repholz
Director of ALA Graphics, American Library Association

FAMOUS WHOOSH EDITOR A TV STAR!! Laura Sue is mighty impressed. WHOOSH's own Kym Taborn is on a TV near you this week! Kym did an interview for the PBS show Internet Cafe about WHOOSH! It will air on most PBS stations during the first week of November -- you can check out your station listings on their website at http://internetcafe.cmpnet. com or check your local PBS stations directly. Laura Sue heard that Kym wore MAKEUP for the first time!! Wow...that's devotion!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN OBTAINING A COPY OF THE SHOW, call 1-888-310-7850. The cost is $19.95 per tape plus $3.95 s&h. Psst! You'll need quote the number of the show (144).

XENA/HERC: THE CHOICE OF CHAMPIONS! Scary wear doesn't dominate the costume-of-choice list for Halloween this year. The London Free Press reports that Xena is the most popular and in demand costume this Halloween. While Laura Sue is mighty intrigued at the thought of all those Brits roaming the streets dressed as Xena...she must admit that she didn't realize they HAD Halloween in England.

NOT ONLY IS XENA THE HOT COSTUME THIS HALLOWEEN in stores, she's also the costume of choice for some fictional characters. (HA! FICTIONAL CHARACTERS -- what are THOSE?) "All My Children" and cartoon strip LIBERTY MEADOWS have both shown characters dressing as Xena! (Please, Please, Please tell me it wasn't Susan Lucci dressed as Xena!)

CONVENTIONS

Creation had to cancel the Convention scheduled for November 16th in Chicago because guest Robert Trebor got the call from New Zealand. (FINALLY! Someone wakes up!) According to Creation they had to cancel/postpone the Con when they were unable to find a replacement guest. (God forbid they actually try to get one of the Kiwi's...Kevin Smith or Danielle Cormack perhaps?)

GOSSIP!

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER CLAIMS "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" leading man Patrick Swayze is in final negotiations to replace "Hercules" TV star Kevin Sorbo in the movie "Black Dog." Sorbo was forced to drop out of the project last month because of exhaustion complicated by an aneurysm in his shoulder. THE ANEURYSM CREATED BLOOD CLOTS, which caused a couple of minor strokes!!! This, folks is WAY-Scary! The latest reports say that Kevin is doing well. He is currently filming but is on anti-coagulants, which are tricky if you're cut (and Kevin has been cut a lot on HERC) so they're being *very* careful. They expect he'll be OK though. He really felt bad about pulling out of THE BLACK DOG. If you want to send get well wishes to Kevin, please write to him via his fan club. The address is: P.O. BOX 410, Buffalo Center, IA 50424. Tell the big lug Laura Sue is rooting for him.

GABRIELLE III: HELL SEASON

WELL, all this aspiring actress has got to say is -- when it's Laura Sue's turn for a HELL SEASON she wants the name of Gabby's Lighting Director! OH MY GAWD, she looks GORGEOUS in this episode! (Note to makeup: Just a *tad* too much blush under the cheekbones -- Hey I know it's Halloween, but REALLY -- remember, gals, Less is MORE!)

OKAY -- HELL SEASON: Whoa, does Gabrielle have to start attending CodA meetings, or what? First she has this boy-toy thing, then has a hasty wedding where she watches her groom disemboweled six minutes into married bliss, and now she's up at dawn, a-hurlin' squids after a one night "all-consuming" encounter with Sparky, the Fire God. I know Xena's not the best MFCC (relationship counselor) around, but this is ridiculous!

THE RIFT-O-METER

(NOTE: GABRIELLE'S HOPE spoilers ahead! Read at your own risk!)

ONE COULD SUPPOSE releasing a gaggle of banshees on your best friend might make that same best friend wonder about the HEALTH OF THE RELATIONSHIP. Then again, maybe not. Xena wants to shish-kabob Gabrielle's baby because she is convinced it is evil incarnate, so Gabrielle does what any other sane woman would do, she puts the kid in a basket, sends the kid downstream, and returns to Xena to start making plans for their China trip. The ladies are still together but they sure are starting to get a tad testy with each other. I suspect that it's going to get as thick as pea soup before we see the straw that breaks the camel's back...yup, probably when the ladies are making their Egyptian vacation plans!

BORING RATINGS STUFF

WELL, I CANNED THE GHOST-WRITER and want to take this baby on for myself!

XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS (episode BEEN THERE, DONE THAT) remained on top of the syndie drama heap with a 5.6 household rating in the second week of its third season. This is down from a rating of 6.1 for the season premiere. The editor of WHOOSH panicked big time and had to be restrained from jumping out a window. Seems that this is the exact same rating that the second show of the second season got last year and the editor has a big wager that the ratings are going to go up -- not down. Well, my three words are GET A LIFE. It's too early in the season to panic. Now, go back to editing and keep clear of windows. Okay?

STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE 9 came in second with 5.2 for ROCKS AND SHOALS, and HERCULES came in third with 4.8 for the episode HERO'S HEART.

LETTERS TO LAURA SUE

DEAR LAURA SUE

Wow! Where do you work out? I want your delts. Just surfed onto your column. It rocks. But I hardly ever catch XWP on TV. Is the show available on video yet? Are there plans for that?

Thanks ---

DELT Lover

LAURA SUE RESPONDS:

Dear DL:

Thanks for the compliment -- JUST the Deltoids, though? What about my BICEPS, TRICEPS AND ABS? Seriously, though I'd LOVE to divulge where Laura Sue works to get her bodacious bod in such great shape, I'll have to decline.... I get WAY too much "hey Laura, wanna go out with me?" fan mail as it is... (OH! It's SO hard to be a beautiful blonde... no, really!)

But I digress (as I'm wont to do when discussing myself), to answer your question, there are currently NO episodes of XWP available on video. But Laura Sue has been told that in 1998 will see some select episodes (the Xena on HERC trilogy, the Callisto trilogy, the Destiny trilogy...I sense a triple theme here). Keep checking with LSD...when I know something, you'll know something!
