Because so many ideas collide, spar, assimilate, and germinate in the Überverse, we decided to have a little area where we and our friends can think about them, loudly and in public. This is also an area to provide links to the myriad non-ficiton about Über as well. If you, humble reader, would like to submit an Über article or two to this fine site, please do not hesitate, send it to us RIGHT NOW. CLICK NOW!!!. Knowledge MUST be shared.

WHOOSH did an entire issue dedicated to XENA fan fiction. The articles which discuss ÜberXenafan fiction are:

  • "Twenty-Seven Grilled Bards and One Reviewer: Rare, Medium, and Supertoasty" by J.C. Wilder. This collection of interviews includes questions about ÜberXena.
  • "Spinning off from the Source: Alternative Fan Fiction Changes with the Seasons" by Christine Boese. Includes major section discussing the ÜberXena phenom.
  • "How Long 'Til My Soul Gets It Right? Karma, Reincarnation, and All This Uber-Fiction" by Rhet Belraven. A discourse on how ÜberXena fan fiction is seen by the author.

  • PROPOSED TOPICS

If any kind soul would like to take on any of these topics...please do! There is a place waiting for them to be published!

  • Pornography vs. Erotica.
  • Proposal: ÜberXena was borne from Alt. XENA fan fic, which stereotypically includes a money shot or two. Über has adapted this idiosyncrasy and then some. Is it erotica? Is it pornography? Does the genre lose its essence if the "adult" aspect of Über is removed?

  • Gratuitious and non-Gratuitous Violence in Über Fan Fiction.
  • Proposal: As to the use of violence, where should one draw the lines, if at all, in ÜberXena?

  • The Lesbian Influence on ÜberXena.
  • Proposal: Is Über essentially a sub-genre of lesbian fiction?

  • The First-Time Alt. Story and ÜberXena.
  • Proposal: Is ÜberXena just a clever way to keep on writing "First Time" Alt. Stories?

  • The Slash Tradition and ÜberXena.
  • Proposal: Is ÜberXena just a new manifestation of slash fiction (same old, same old), or does it offer something new to media fandom fan fiction?

  • A Short History of ÜberXena.
  • Proposal: How and why the word was coined and the stories that inspired it; the early trends and its current status.

  • Why Über?
  • Proposal: Speculation on why bards are writing Über and if it will eventually supplant Classical XWP stories set in Ancient Greece or its contemporaries when the show ends.

  • Transcendent Über.
  • Proposal: Introduce the concept of artistic transcendence and give examples of Transcendent Übers.

  • Entering the Minds of the Über Bards.
  • Proposal: Profile the bards who primarily write Über or whose "best" or most well-known stories are Über. May include interviews with said bards.

  • Near Übers (Immortals, Cross-overs, Alternative Universes, and Time Travelers): The Rise of a Sub-Genre.
  • Proposal: Review the history and potential of this sub-genre of XENA fan fiction and close cousin to ÜberXena.
