SYNOPSIS:

Synopsis by Liz Sheppard

Hercules and Serena are in Happy Happy Land and having too much fun being married to spend time with Iolaus. Oh well. They plan to meet him later, but come back early to have a little fun.

Meanwhile, over in Xenaland, Xena and Gabrielle are in a tavern when they are interrupted by a couple of drunk dudes. Xena couldn't help but hear that the drunk guys are laughing about how Hercules got married to the last of the Golden Hinds and that he gave up his powers to do it. Xena gets upset and her and Gabby leave the tavern, with the guys following them outside. Until the girls are gone, the drunk guys turn into -woohoo- the Black Leather Duo, Ares and Strife. They seem quite happy with themselves, having "put their plan into action".

Hercules and Serena are in the marketplace (with her being just as happy as anything) when, of course, a bunch of thugs picks on the newlyweds. Big long fight scene that's in every Herc ep, except Herc takes quite a beating, even with the help of Iolaus (Serena did a little, too). All through the fight, a cloaked figure in the background watches. After the fight, Herc's all Mr. Meany to his wife and sidekick, cause even though he doesn't have his superhero-god-like-muscles, he still thinks he doesn't need their help. More insults fly out of Herc's mouth until Mr. Cloaked Guy (Strife) goes bye-bye. Then Herc says he's sorry.

Ares and Strife are hanging out in a field with lots and lots of bones lying around everywhere. They discuss their plan and what's going on so far. Strife tries to be a pain in the b*tt to Ares, but the god of war just laughs at the boy (evil laugh, no doubt). Ares blabs on and on on what happened in that field, and that Xena did it and and Ares loved it -- big sigh from Ares --, ahh he misses his warrior princess (don't we all), and he plans to get her back soon (but that's what he always does) -- insert evil laugh here --

The newlyweds and a sidekick are at a tavern. Newlyweds want their honeymoon to last --forever --, but Iolaus will break it up at dawn the next day before he goes fishing.

The villagers (plus Mr. Cloaked Guy) have all called a meeting on Hercules. Strife, finding the meeting boring, decides to liven it up by making a villager mad at Herc. It worked, and they plan to tell Herc to leave the next morning.

Herc and Serena are cuddling in bed, talking about mushy stuff. They get ready to get really mushy. Meanwhile, Strife's a happy little boy, just singing and running around outside the newlyweds place. Of course, he plans to do evil, because he is evil. But at least he's happy.

Herc's having really bad dreams in which he's arguing with Serena. And they fight and fight and fight and fight and Herc wakes up. But Serena doesn't. Blood everywhere. Bloody knife in Herc's lap. You draw your own conclusion.

Iolaus is walking along when he hears Herc scream, and he finds that Serena is dead. The villagers show up and declare Hercules as a murderer. Herc gets mad and makes everyone leave so he can smash stuff.

Ares is hanging out with the three fates and comes across Hercules' life line. He convinces Atropus that Hercules, the Coldblooded Savage Wife Killer, should die. Then, ta-da, big boy Zeus shows up and stops Ares from doing his evil ways. Ares suggests that ol' Herc be tried among mortals for the murder and Zeus agrees.

Hercules tries to hide from the mob while Iolaus tries to knock some sense in the mob, but Herc doesn't have anywhere to hide. An old man that once had his life saved by our hero hides him in his house. While a villager searches the place, Herc's holding that necklace he gave to Serena and it looks like the big guy might be crying. The old man says that with the way Herc's acting, he couldn't have killed her.

While Herc tries to get away without being seen, Strife, who seemed to be just hunting the man down, finds him, becomes happy, and does his lightning-bolt-out-the-hand thing on his favorite angry villager. The villager just suddenly finds Hercules and the whole mob goes after him. They catch him and beat the stuffing out of him. Iolaus pops up, but the mob beats him up, too. Seems hopeless for the Dynamic (Male) Duo?

Never! It's their show, they can't die. Xena and Gabby show up and the four kick major booty. Even though they win the fight, Herc badly damages several parts of his body. Since Xena has "many skills", she's able to heal him somewhat.

The four are hanging out in a cave. Herc concludes that what's going on is all Ares fault. Talk about brotherly love. Xena's trying to keep it cool since she's the doctor, and she tells him that they are past the time they could of been together. Oh well, we can still dream (Gabby and Iolaus could still get together). Iolaus is frustrated by what's going on and thinks up a plan to kill Herc and confess to the murder to save Herc's reputation. And Gabby is just tired of walking back and forth to get water.

Hercules wakes up from one of his glorious nightmares again, this time he actually saw himself kill her. While Gabby goes to get water, Herc finds Xena's sword and runs away. Xena, Iolaus, and Gab meet and find him and the sword gone and they conclude that he's gone to charge the mob and die a warrior's death. Meanwhile, Ares and Strife are at the Fates place, playing beautiful music with Herc's life line. Strife pulls out a knife.

Herc meets the mob, tries to charge it, but two sidekicks and a warrior princess stop him. Iolaus and Herc argue on who really killed Serena, Herc thinks he did it. They start sword fighting and Iolaus kills him. Herc falls to the ground and dies. Xena gets mad, starts fighting with Iolaus and kills him. Well, I guess this is an ok way to end the series.

Since Xena seems to be reverting back to her evil ways, Ares and Strife show up and Ares tries to claim what was his -- Xena. She asks him how he made Herc kill Serena. Ares wants to keep it a secret, but Strife blabs on how he killed Serena and it was easy, etc. Herc and Iolaus come back to life. Strife seems to have this look on his face like "Oh, sh*t", then our big hero beats the stuffing out of him. Then -- oops -- Strife remembers that he's a god, and starts beating the stuffing out of Herc. Herc's about to die but the old man that took him in earlier comes by and gives herc back his muscles. The old man turns out to be Zeus, Herc's daddy. Then Strife gets some more stuffing beat out of him again. He puts up with it for a while, then disappears with that demented laugh of his. Ares goes bye-bye too, claiming that this wasn't over yet. Zeus walks away and Herc follows, complaining to his daddy that he wants his wife back, but Zeus can't do that. Herc's sad.

Xena, Iolaus, and Gabby are talking about the fake deaths, when a sad Hercules walks by saying that if he hadn't loved Serena, she would still be alive. We get to hear Xena sing her death ballad to Serena (she rents herself out, you know), while Herc embeds her necklace into her headstone. Hercules says good-bye to his bride.

From Kent Simmons. Atlantis: Cassandra's house was the same one shown in several episodes. In HTLJ's "Judgement Day" it was Serena's house. In XWP's "Destiny" it was Niklios Healing House. It was also in HTLJ's "Beanstalks and Bad Eggs" as the house of Alyssa. It was also used in HTLJ's "And Fancy Free" as the house of the digruntled father of Althea.
