TV GUIDE PROMO
Out for an afternoon of fishing, lolaus, Jason, and Hercules rescue a drowning man who literally falls from the sky into the water. The man turns out to be Hercules' half-brother, a god named Hephaestus, who is metalsmith to the gods. Hephaestus unwittingly endangers the lives of all of the cadets when a jealous, revengeful giant, who is searching for him, pays the academy an unexpected visit.
This synopsis is by Deb Roche
The guys are fishing (yes again). This time, they are cooking their fish when they hear a splash in the water behind them. They turn to the water and see a man struggling. Herc runs in and pulls the man out. Once back to shore, they ask the man who he is. The man says, "I don't know"
The boys bring the man, whom Iolaus nick-names Fish, back to the Academy. Cheiron agrees to let Fish stay.
Fish repairs the big metal training thing.
The guys go to Kota's. Kora tells them she has just invented this great new thing but hasn't thought of a name yet. They ask what it is and she tells them. First you take these beans from Ethiopia, grind them up, and boil them in water. Then, you throw out the beans, and drink them water. And, you can even add milk to it. Herc looks at her and says "Wild guess here, but have you been drinking alot of that?" She looks at him and says "yeah. It's good."
Later that night, Fish has a dream of a forge, and fire, and falling from the sky into the lake. Fish wakes up and Herc asks if he's ok. Fish says he thinks so. Herc asks if he's remembered anything. Fish says that his mother kicked him out, that she was dissappointed in him. He also tells Herc that there was a forge in his dream. Herc, realizing that Fish must be a metalsmith of some kind, takes him to the Academy forge. He tells Herc he's always been good with his hands. Herc says it "must be a gift from the Gods."
At the mention of Gods, Fish's memry starts to return. He sees Hera's eyes telling him he's no God. Herc asks what's wrong. Fish says he remebers. "My name is Heph... Heph" Hercules looks at him and says "Hephaestus?" Fish nods. Herc says "You're a god. We're brothers"
Heph looks at him, memory fully returned. He says "I know who you are. You're Hercules. Ares doesn't like you very much"
Heph tells Herc that Hera kicked him out of Olympus. Herc tells Heph that Olympus is his home, and just because Hera doesn't approve of what he does, she can't force him out.
Iolaus, Jason, and Lilith call Herc over. Herc tells Heph he'll be right back. He goes over to the guys and tells them who Fish is, and why he's here. Jason mentions that Heph is gone. Herc turns around and sure enough he's gone. Herc goes after him.
Herc catches up to him, and convinves Heph to return to Olympus. Heph thanks Herc and leaves.
(There is a subplot about some angry metalsmith giant trying to kill Heph. And with Herc's help, Heph sends the giant into orbit. Literally)
Godly appearances: Hephaestus, Hera
Godly Mentions: Zeus, Ares
Inventions: Kora invents coffee
Note: This is the episode in which Herc first meets Heph. That means this episode comes before every other Heph episode.
