Acorn, David Mirus in WARRIOR...PRINCESS (15/115) Aescalus DEATH MASK (23/123)
Played by Doug McCauley
Head of the King's Soldiers. Unfortunately, the King is the warlord Cortese. Aescalus is a basically good, but not too bright a guy. He obviously has good grooming habits, keeps his hair short, and has that ex- military look Agis WARRIOR...PRINCESS...TRAMP (30/206)
Played by actor Chris Bailey [who also played Apex in BLIND FAITH (42/218) and Celano in HOOVES AND HARLOTS (10/110)]
A crooked advisor to King Lias, Agis plans to usurp his kingdom by using a tramp named Meg, who is an exact double of Lias' daughter/heir, Diana, and also of Xena (what a coincidence). His meticulously-laid plans all collapse as his thugs fail to eliminate Xena. His subsequent capture of Diana, kidnapping of her baby, and assassination attempt on the King are all thwarted by Xena. He is finally defeated in a swordfight with Xena, and Lias recovers. Meg lives on to appear in yet another comedy of mistaken identity, the third season WARRIOR...PRIESTESS...TRAMP. [ND]
Agis is an ambitious and cruel courtier in the kingdom of King Lias, the father of Princess Diana. When Lias becomes ill and names Diana as his successor, Agis concocts a plot to take the throne. He forces Meg, a trampy Xena/Diana lookalike, to impersonate Xena and Diana, the plan being to replace Meg with Diana, kill the king, and assume power. His plans go awry, and he is captured. [CC]
Agranon THE PATH NOT TAKEN (05/105)
Played by actor Jimi Liversidge
He's the Prince of Kolonus, and fiancee of Jana, Princess of Beocia. Jana and Agranon had a Romeo & Juliet-esque romance even though their kingdoms had been feuding for centuries [compare theirs with the Romeo & Juliet thang in BEEN THERE DONE THAT (48/302)]. After Jana was kidnapped, Agranon tried to hire Xena to rescue her from Mezentius. Xena took the job, but not the money Akteon DEATH MASK (22/122)
Played by actor Kenneth McGregor
Akteon was a character cut out of DEATH MASK. Here's what wound up on the cutting room floor:
5 EXT. DESERTED VILLAGE - DAY
Xena and Gabrielle are entering this village.
AMIDST THE BUILDINGS
warriors crouch in ambush, waiting for Xena's approach. This is a desperate-looking bunch of scoundrels.
ON XENA AND GABRIELLE
as they enter the village. Xena is eyeing the buildings suspiciously.
ON FIVE WARRIORS
They step out into Xena's path. A LARGE WARRIOR steps out from the rest. He's an amiable, giant of a man. His name is AKTEON. He covers a cruel heart with his joviality.
as all the warriors, including the ones amidst the buildings, stand up and cheer, waving their spears in celebration of her arrival.
As soon as I got your message I did as you suggested. There's nothing left standing in the Mani.
Good. You'll make a very useful ally.
Why me, Xena? We were never close.
You aren't still angry about that thing in Macedonia? That was years ago.
You lied to me. There was no gold in Askos. No food, even. My army almost died of starvation.
(with a shrug)
Hey, I had to make sure you were out of the way so I could loot Salonika by myself.
You know what they say about love and war, Akteon. But I'm going to make it up to you now. I have a plan.
I know. Your messenger said our armies should rendezvous outside Thebes. The plundering should be rich around there.
There's been a change of plans. There's a big shipment of gems coming into Piraeus.
Piraeus? Athens' entire army and fleet are there.
You haven't heard about the expedition?
Most of Athens' army is headed toward Anatolia on board the fleet. I figure if you close from the west and I from the east, we'll crush the garrison in Piraeus in hours.
How do I know you'll really be there?
Wait for me north of Athens If I don't show up, then don't go ahead.
(off his look)
You can trust me, Akteon. I trust you. Look, I've come to see you without my army.
This is a rich haul, but if you're not interested I could go to Draco.
No. You got a deal.
Alcibiades WARRIOR...PRINCESS...TRAMP (30/206)
Played by actor Simon Fa'amoe
Leader of the soldiers working for Agis in his plot to replace Princess Diana with Meg. Alcibiades is the teflon warrior! No matter how often he screws up, he's able to distract Agis enough where he doesn't get chewed out. This guy is a must to study if you are ever thinking of scaling that corporate ladder Altrech LOST MARINER (45/221)
Played by actor Edward Campbell [who also played Crius in THE TITANS (07/107)]
From LOST MARINER:
Gabrielle: "If you're wrong? Xena, I have to spend the rest of my life dodging -- Altrech! 60-year-old adolescent, who hasn't had a girlfriend since his voice was an octave higher."
Altrech is a member of Cecrop's crew of old ex-pirates who have been stuck on the ship of the Lost Mariner for decades. At the sight of Gabrielle, he just can't control his pent-up lust and pursues Gabrielle at every opportunity. His lechery, combined with his old age, proves to be a total gross-out for Gabrielle, but underneath that, he also shows himself to be a decent and honorable man. [ND]

Andrus TIES THAT BIND (20/120)
Played by Jonathan Whittaker [DW]
Anteus ALTARED STATES (19/119)
Played by David Ackroyd
Father of Maell and Icus and modeled after the Biblical Abraham. The voice of Anteus' one god was telling him to sacrifice his youngest son. His evil son, Maell, supported it because it got Anteus' favorite son, Icus, out of the picture. As luck would have it, Xena was passing through and became involved as a proponent of child rights Antonius THE PATH NOT TAKEN (5/105)
Played by John O'Leary
Apex BLIND FAITH (42/218)
Played by Chris Bailey [who also played Agis in WARRIOR...PRINCESS... TRAMP (30/206) and Celano in HOOVES AND HARLOTS (10/110)]
With slicked-back hair and a Fu Manchu-type beard, Apex is the sinister-looking Chief Minister for King Solis, whom he has assasssinated in an elaborate scheme to become King himself, but in order to accomplish this, the dead King must be married. So he hires the warrior Palaemon to capture a young girl with certain features in order to fool his court into accepting the marriage. An accident would be staged and the girl would be killed. In a stroke of bad luck for Apex, Palaemon has captured Gabrielle, which of course brings Xena, who shatters his plans and eventually exposes his treachery. [ND]
Apex was the courtier who attempted to force a "marriage" between Gabrielle and his dead king to fulfill an arcane custom. Queen Gabrielle would then be killed, and Apex would attain supreme power. He was knocked out and captured in a fight with Xena
Arben HOOVES & HARLOTS (10/110)
Played by John Watson
A centaur guard of Tyldus' forces. Arben is ordered by Tyldus to chase after the fleeing Celano after it is discovered that Celano is a spy. Xena stops Arben from bringing in Celano by stating that Celano is running to Krykus who is the true enemy of the Centaurs and Amazons Arbus THE EXECUTION (41/217)
Played by Tony Blackett
Arbus was a judge with a reputation for fairness. Unfortunately, he was really a corrupt official who was out to make a name for himself. He sentenced Meleager to death under questionable pretenses, then tried to "silence" Xena and Gabrielle, as well. He was ultimately imprisoned. [CC] Ares THE RECKONING (06/106), TIES THAT BIND (20/120), INTIMATE STRANGER (31/207), TEN LITTLE WARLORDS (32/208) and THE XENA SCROLLS (24/210)
Played by Kevin Smith
Ares is the god of War. First appearance is in THE RECKONING, where he kills three townsmen in order to lure Xena back to the fold. Second appearance is in TIES THAT BIND, where he appears as Xena's father in order to turn her blood lust against a village, and give her an army to destroy it. Third appearance is in INTIMATE STRANGER, where he works with the dead Callisto to take Xena's body away from her and trap her in Hades permanently [he's obvously still sore from THE RECKONING and TIES THAT BIND]. Fourth appearance is in TEN LITTLE WARLORDS, where Sisyphus has stolen Ares' sword and godhood, and Xena (still in Callisto's body), must aid the mortal Ares. Fifth appearance is in XENA SCROLLS, where we find that at some point in Xena's future she traps the god of war in a tomb for centuries. Xena's descendant, Mel Pappas, must defeat the god of war and keep him from meeting and aiding Hitler. Ares is manipulative and only looks out for himself and his desires. [DW]

Played by Morgan Palmer Hubbard
Middle child of Darius. Xena is shot with an arrow while saving him from Sphaerus and his raiders Arkel A ROYAL COUPLE OF THIEVES (17/117)

Played by Karen Dior, aka Geoff Gann
The cross-dressing male beauty pageant contestant who not only wins the contest but also gets to kiss Xena (to Gabrielle's surprise).
From HERE SHE COMES...MISS AMPHIPOLIS:ARTIPHYS
I was just trying to scare you.
Why'd you want to scare me?
Because I knew you knew. You know, about me. And I didn't want you to tell anyone. But when I came back to unlock the door, you had already gone.
What made you think I'd tell?
You really don't get it, do you? I guess being born a woman, you wouldn't. This is a chance to use a part of me most people usually laugh at-- or worse. The part I usually have to hide-- only here that part works for me-- you see?
I think so.
Look-- I don't expect you to understand. And I'm sorry I got you steamed. I just hope you let me quit the pageant in private instead of going public with it.
No way. May the best person win.
Aston, David Tyldus, the leader of the centaurs, in HOOVES AND HARLOTS (07/107) Athol THE PRODIGAL
Played by actor Anton Bentley [who also played the original Perdicas in SINS OF THE PAST (01/101)]
Although his name was never mentioned in the entire episode, Athol was the lieutenant of the evil warlord Damon. He first shows up at the village of Potedeia to collect Damon's tribute, but is chased out of town by a comatose Meleager (manipulated by Gabrielle and Lilla). He later is able to capture Meleager. When Gabrielle tries to rescue Meleager, Athol captures her for Damon. He is later involved in the battle with the Poteidaia villagers where Damon is killed by Meleager. Athol is also the traveling companion of Derq. [ND] Atkins, Tom Atrius, Xena's father, in TIES THAT BIND (20/120) Birthday: 11/13/??

Atrius TIES THAT BIND (20/120)
Played by Tom Atkins
Supposedly Xena's long-lost father, shown only in TIES THAT BIND. He knows enough about her to hum her a song she knows and asks her to recall an event (him racing by her on a horse and picking her up) that she had told Gabrielle after he'd gone to get a horse. He helps both Xena and Gabrielle escort the women prisoners they had freed back to their village, and helps Xena distract Kirilus' men. Beaten and left hanging on a pair of crossed beams outside the village, Atrius is seen by Xena and she goes into a rage. After Atrius 'dies', he is revealed to be Ares in disguise. [DW] Atymnius MORTAL BELOVED (16/116)
Played by actor Paul Willis
From MORTAL BELOVED:
MARCUSA really, really creepy killer. He escaped Tartarus and returned to the mortal world by using Hades helmet of invisiblity. Marcus was given 24 hours on the surface with Xena to bring in this bad camper
You ever hear of a madman named Atyminius?
Yeah, of course. The old men in my village used to try and scare young girls by saying that, if we didn't behave, he'd come and get us. The story had it that he specialized in killing brides before their weddings.
Not just killing them. He liked cutting them into little pieces. This guy stands out as a bad one even down here. He's somehow managed to steal Hades' helmet of invisibility, and he used it to confine Hades and turn this place upside down. He loves torturing innocents and rewarding fiends.
Autolycus A ROYAL COUPLE OF THIEVES (17/117) and THE QUEST (37/213)
Played by actor Bruce Campbell
The self-proclaimed King of Thieves. Autolycus first came to Xena's attention when (using a recommendation from Hercules) Xena enlisted the reluctant thief to help her retrieve "the most powerful weapon this world has ever known" which had been stolen by the warlord Malthus. When Xena died and needed to reunite with her body, she again turned to this master thief to help steal her body back from the Amazons. Although arrogant and egotistical, Autolycus has always been a friend to Xena and Gabrielle.
