 |
ULYSSES (43/219)
Played by Donna Pivac.
One of three Supremes Wannabes, the 1st Siren lived with her sisters-in-crime in a cave on an island somewhere in the greater vicinity of the Greek islands. These ladies sang extremely alluring songs which made the passing-by male mariners want to come to them by any means necessary. Tragically, the island had an extremely bad harbor and every ship that had visited had been totally destroyed, killing the entire crew. When Ulysses, Xena, and Gabrielle were
sailing to Ithaca to take Uly home (after a long, drawn out date), they passed by the cave. Ulysses had himself tied to a mast so he would not act on the Siren's deadly song, but in his crazed state from listening to the seductive music, he figured out a way to get free. He started steering the ship to the rocky shore. Xena and Gabrielle tried to restrain Ulysses' while under the potent Siren's spell, but were unsuccessful. Xena finally started singing and
overpowered the Siren's song with her own song (just like Orpheus did when the Argonauts passed by a decade earlier). Ulysses was subdued and all was well again in the Xenaverse, at least for that moment. [KT]

Played by Rebecca McKinnon.
A young girl, not yet in her teens, who is held captive with others to be sold into slavery by what looks like a precursor of The Horde. She does not run in the same direction as Gabrielle and the other captives, but instead stays behind to watch Xena fight with the wild men. While watching, she fingers a symbol on a chain she wears around her neck which closely resembles the one M'Lila is wearing. Xena recognizes this, and when she is injured she asks
Gabrielle to look for the young girl, saying that she is the only one who can save her. Unfortunately for Xena, the girl has long disappeared. [LW] |

 |
THE QUEST (37/213) and A NECESSARY EVIL (38/214)
Played by Jodie Dorday.
After Eponin's mysterious disappearance, Solari became Ephiny's right-hand Amazon. Solari came in especially helpful after ex-Acting Amazon Queen Velasca went over the deep end, did some some ambrosia, became a god, and went obsessively after Gabrielle. Solari pretended to have turned on Ephiny and to have decided to join in worship of Velasca, but in reality it was just a ruse so the Amazons could divert Velasca's attention while Xena figured out her
"imprison her in a lava flow" scheme. Solari was also notorious for allowing Autolycus to take her Amazon bra clasp in order to pick their way (the rogue Amazons led by Ephiny, Autolycus, and Gabrielle) out of the pre-god Velasca's jail cell. [KT] |

Tara beats up Gabrielle in a tavern and later Gabrielle returns the favor. In the end, all is forgiven! [FORGIVEN] They meet up again in the middle of nowhere where Tara is trapped in a town where dancing is not allowed. Gabrielle gets happy feet and before you know it Xena and Gabrielle have brought
dance back to the town. [TALE OF TWO MUSES] [KT] |

[LW] |
  |
Terreis
 |
HOOVES AND HARLOTS (10/110)
Played by Rebekah Mercer.
Terreis is the Amazon princess and sister to Queen Melosa whose murder nearly starts a war between the Amazons and Centaurs. When Xena and Gabrielle seek safe passage through Amazon territory, they are confronted by a group of Amazons, including Terreis. She looks at Xena, saying, "You know the Amazon ways and yet you're not one of us." Then she looks at Gabrielle, saying, "And you're really not one of us." Gabrielle and Terreis strike up a conversation, and Terreis
explains the Amazon philosophy: "It is a man's world, Gabrielle. Not because it should be, but because we let them have it. It's based on a woman's weakness. The Amazon world is based on truth, on a woman's individual strength." When Terreis is shot by an arrow in an ambush, Gabrielle throws herself over the fallen Amazon's body to protect her. Dying in Gabrielle's arms, Terreis says, "You tried to save me. What you did only an Amazon would do for another
Amazon. I want you to take my right of caste." Terreis thus confers the status of Amazon princess on an unsuspecting Gabrielle. While the Amazons blame her murder on the Centaur, Phantes, Xena and Ephiny eventually prove that the true culprit is the warlord Krykus, who hopes to benefit from a war between Amazons and Centaurs. We learn that Terreis respected the Centaurs, and her legacy lives on in the new alliance between Amazons and Centaurs against
Krykus and in Gabrielle's new costume and new ability to fight with a staff. [AS] |

  |
Thalassa
 |
LOCKED UP AND TIED DOWN (75/407)
Played by Katrina Browne
Having an arm gnawed off by hungry little killer crabs would no doubt make anyone cranky, but only after 5 minutes with the killer bard, Thalassa was ready to turn in her leathers for redemption as well (what is this power Gabrielle has over psychotics?). Thalassa is the Barbara Stanwyck wannabe in charge of some podunk village's offshore high security prison called Shark Island. She is yet another woman who Xena had done wrong during Xena's "troubled" years. When
Thalassa was a young carefree happy little thang, the evil Xena tied her up and left to be tortured by crabs. Xena got back too late only to find an arm remaining where the once happy and carefree Thalassa was. Fast forward at least 6 to 9 years, and now Thalassa is running the prison and she plots to torment Xena by having Xena convicted of her death. The woman is obviously a loon. When Gabrielle comes to save Xena, Thalassa becomes attached to the bard within a record
breaking two minutes (heck, it took Najara at least three minutes before she was bardified), but in the end fails our bard when she refuses to do anything to keep Gabrielle from being hanged. In the big "save the bard" scene, Xena and Gabrielle save Thalassa from the unwashed hordes who would probably love to tie down and lock up Thalassa so she could be eaten by some tiny killer crabs. [KT] |
  |
Thea
 |
VANISHING ACT (66/320)
Played by Cherie Bray-Taylor.
A courtesan in the employ of Tarses of Cyros, she takes a fancy to the "hump" on Autolycus' back and pursues the hapless thief during a party held in which Xena and Gabrielle, as rival bidders on the golden statue of Pax, are guests. Perhaps she knows Autolycus and is suspicious of the man, especially when he refuses to let her touch the hump. [KT] |
